Did you buy a new one? I know I probably have to go down that path sooner or later, how much do we have to pay for one?I wonder why alot of guys that have the i1pro2 actually use the spyder x pro to do gamma, is it easier to use?
Because the i1 Pro 2 is nowhere near sensitive enough for measuring gamma under about 10% IRE which there are a few patterns that dim in the 33 point gamma autocal.
I was able to get a very good gamma calibration using the i1Pro2. Had to use it in the ambient light mode, facing and really close to the projector lens.
Lol of course. But I was referring to stock autocal where you can't use ambient mode. Of course if you use hacked autocal where you face the lens you have nearly unlimited brightness to work with if you move it super close.
A couple of years ago I already used the i1Pro meter in ambient mode for gamma calibration of an x570. That was long before the patches came out, so the software itself was just using the regular reflective mode. It was more tricky because of the more limited range of the i1Pro (compared with i1Pro2), but it worked.
Autocal Color calibration consists of only 7 patch measurements. 100% R,G,B,C,M,Y,W.
I don’t remember, but in theory both the display mode and the ambient mode only need the black cap, not the white tile, for calibration. It’s only the reflective mode that needs the white tile to calibrate the internal light source.
If you're not using a 3D LUT, it doesn't matter if you use BT2020 or P3, as long as saturations are tracking properly as far as the gamut go. Assuming you're not using a 3D LUT, I would select in the JVC and in Calman:BT2020, P65, Gamma 2.4 and make sure in Calman that the PJ is tracking well with these targets. Your BT2020 cover will look under saturated, but as long as the saturations track, you'll be good to go. If you want your gamut graphs to look nicer, you can measure P3 within BT2020, there are some layouts that do that. This shows how P3 content measures within the BT2020 container.In madVR's calibration tab, simply provide the settings you've used when calibrating/checking with Calman, in this case already "calibrated for" BT2020, D65, 2.4. The advantage of doing it this way is that you can use the same calibration with a consumer source, such as a Pana UB UHD player tonemapping to SDR BT2020.
