The i1Diags being successfull means the driver is correctly installed, that's all that is required, BUT for autocal to detect it, it has to be plugged in and sitting on its calibration white tile support (white tile uncovered of course) BEFORE starting autocal.

How are people connecting their EFI ES-2000 to the tripod as there is no bracket?  Just elastic bands?

Hint : the i1Pro2 and ES-2000 require some current, so better to plug them into a USB3 socket ( mine does not pass the i1diags when plugged into a USB2 socket ) or with a USB3 extension câble or a self powered remote hub.

I think that, because the hardware not change, any new firmware create a new factory settings. Upgrade means to change the software, the data base and correct te bugs, otherwise don't have sense. Example,  in one of the upgrading it was been inserted the option Panasonic table, means that, the .init file create after the upgrading, at the first new calibration,  contain the factory data for Panasonic also, and if it is imported the old .init file (done before the upgrading)  this don't have factory data for Panasonic. So I think that any firmware upgrading change the old factory default values and create a new factory status. In any case I can state that in my case when I have installed the firmware 3.10 a new .init file has been created.
No new INIT files are created when doing a firmware update.  Even when the Panasonic profiles were added there was no new INIT file involved.
Keep in mind that there are no individual "base calibration tables" for each profile.  Different profiles share a common base calibration, for the same lamp power, P3 filter, iris configuration.

For those who say they got more than 1 INIT file, what is the filename exactly?

I don’t think you are getting an INIT file. 

The file created on the first autocal is very different than the ones created in subsequent autocals.

I guess the subsequent INIT files are the complete projector memory slots ( that is 12 slots for possible gamma combinations and 16 for the various possible color combinations ),  whereas the SAVE of a regular autocal run only saves one for gamma and one for color according to your choices for that run.

EDIT:  Well not really sure about that ..... I do not know what is inside the very first INIT file and have not yet seen a subsequent INIT file .....  If anybody has a better explanation ?

There are no “subsequent INIT files”.  If Autocal thinks it’s doing the first calibration (due to new computer, new folder, etc) it will create the INIT file. We had the discussion 7 months ago on the other forum.

Yes true ... but it was also said then that when it does not find the original init file on your computer it creates a new "init" file, how does it call that new file then ?

Should be easy to find out, next time I do an autocal I will save the original init file somewhere else and we'll see what happens 8)

What I meant by “there are no subsequent INIT files”, is that the software creates only one “kind” of INIT file; i.e. the software doesn’t treat the “new” INIT file any differently than the first, since the it doesn’t even know it’s not the first.

If you did not save the original INIT file its contents cannot be re-created; the “new” INIT file contains the calibration data in the projector prior to that session of autocal, but that data does not represent the factory calibration.

In all cases the file name is SN-Init-YYYY-MMDD-hmm.cbd.

Note that Autocal also saves calibration logs in the Windows Userdata folder, so you may also need to clean up that folder if you want to fool the software into creating the INIT file.

Well that's about what has always been said, including me, and that is specifically warned by JVC :  the real init file cannot be re-created and should be saved.
But then why does autocal re-created a file named init if it is not an init file ?  Bug  ?

It you run Autocal using one computer and then run it on a different computer, you will get an INIT file on both computers.  However, the actual contents of the two INIT files will be different.  It’s the way Autocal works; I don’t consider that a “bug”.

Dominic, that's where we do not agree, for me the init file is relative to the projector, not the computer on which you run the program, that means there can only be one true init file pertaining to one projector.
If you sell the projector and the new owner runs autocal he will get a new init file maybe not even knowing that this new one is not "genuine".
I call this a bug, the projector should have a way ( a flag ? ) to remember that an autocal of it has been run already. 

A simple fix would be to name any such file "global" instead of "init".

I have a couple of questions, I cannot find my INIT file, can someone please detail an example of the file I should be looking for?

Also, I have now calibrated the N7 for everything but Frame Adapt, which I find a little strange, how can I be sure that the colour is accurate in Frame Adapt?

Yeah I have calibrated the same NX projector on multiple computers before and only ever got the INIT file the first time on the first computer. 

Upgrading firmwares or changing computers never produced another INIT file on subsequent autocal runs, only user mode backups for the mode I was in when I ran the autocal.
