JVC Autocal Software V12 calibration for 2019 RS1000/RS2000/RS3000/NX5/NX7/NX9

The RS520 only works with the Spyder 5, and the i1 Pro 2.
I believe the 11 Pro works too, but it's recognized by the software as an i1 Pro 2.

Well yes, they all run in i1 Pro compatibility mode.

i1 Pro (EFI ES-1000), i1 Pro 2 (EFI ES-2000).

This is correct, it is not.

When I do a simple 10-point gamma reading with my i1 Pro 2, I find that it's accurate down to about 20% pattern when compared to something like my Spyder or i1 Display Pro.

But the Autocal gamma can do 33 points, so many of them are well below 20% and thus the i1 Pro is not suitable.

So you really want both meters, one for gamma, and one for color.

It's really too bad JVC wont support the i1 Display Pro as that's the 1 affordable meter that would be able to do a reasonably good job for both all on its own, or with a correction matrix to an i1 Pro or even better spectro.

Especially considering they are already familiar working with an X-Rite.

The RS520 needs Autocal 9 which only supports the Spyder 5 and the i1Pro(1/2); Spyder X is not supported.

I'm new to this forum.
I joined now i want to use my N5 autocal. I just bought a Spyder X but already got an i1d3.

Could someone send me a pm cause i'd like to try and get my i1d3 to work at my own risk ?.

  • Offering a way to provide a correction matrix for the Spyder 5 Pro/Elite or any other colorimeter supported in the future, so that those with access to another software and a reference meter can profile the Spyder 5 facing the lens to the reference meter facing the screen. This would make the “spreadsheet method” currently used to correct the errors of the Spyder 5 unnecessary, and would likely provide better results overall, significantly faster and with less hassle. Even better if the software could generate this matrix itself using the i1pro2 facing the screen, so we can use the Spyder 5 for everything including color/white point calibration, and not just for gamma when we have both meters.

Karl Klammer just reported in the "old" forum that this often requested feature actually exists in the JVC autocal software, at least since V7!

Wow, thanks for this information, if true this is the most significant post in the whole thread, well done! :)
I'll investigate when I find the time, which won't be until next month unfortunately, due to work.

EDIT: I had a quick look, do you know the expected format of the table?

Well, since I was mentioned here, I can also answer it directly. ;)

If you look at a matrix in HCFR you put the values from left to right and top to bottom in the xml file
My xml file looked like this:

How did you get those long numbers, in HCFR I can only see 6 digits after the period.

Also, very weird matrix. I'd expect 1st, 5th and last value being closer to 1!

EDIT: maybe because you are profiling a Spyder 5... big difference in luminance implies big difference in the diagonal of the matrix.

I mentioned HCFR as an example how to get the table into the lines of the xml file.
For my values I used a function from the SDK of my Klein K10-A.

Regarding the luminance difference: the Spyder was directed at the projector while the reference meter was directed at the screen.

If you want to get a "normal-looking" correction matrix, in HCFR you can override the measured white luminance with the reference white luminance value.  Answer Yes when HCFR asks if you want to scale all measurements to the new white Y.  Then create the correction matrix.

Doing this has the advantage of preserving the "yellow box" indicator that the software provides to help place the meter.
