That's a short throw and a small screen. I can't imagine it not being brighter - ST100 or not.

Have your dealer come back out and look to make sure he didn't miss something during setup. If he didn't and it's still less bright than your RS66, you may want to have your dealer get you a new RS3000.

Okay, it shouldn't look dim even with nominal gain. What about the old screen? Size, gain, throw distance?

You are use your original JVC glasses right? They will dont works with new model, try change polarisation with them over 90" and zou will see nice bright image.

Because thats i sold my old glasses and bought new one. Original glasses will dont works.

Barry bought the new Stewart screen first and used it with his old JVC, without issue. I would assume that his throw distance didn't change but maybe he can confirm. 

I say this to possibly rule out some of the questions that are being asked.

Barry, other than the dark 3D experience, how does it look? Is it as bright as your old JVC with 2D content? If so, it has to be something with setup or you just got a lemon both of which I bet your dealer/installer will help you with.

I know that 3D is losing support and popularity but I would find it surprising if JVC suddenly made a new projector that is not compatible with their older 3D glasses. However, I have seen stranger things happen in the AV Industry.

It's worth a shot to see if it works.

Ironically, this is in fact the case.  With this new generation of Projectors, the plane of polarization has been rotated 90 degrees.

If one's screen retains no polarization at all, then this doesn't matter, and any 3d glasses will work fine.

But if one's screen does retain significant polarization, and if the orientation of the glasses doesn't match that of the Projector's, then light will plummet dramatically, and the more retention there is, the worse it gets.

With previous projectors, JVC's polarization plane was 90 degrees from other manufacturers, so they required glasses with 90 degrees different from the "usual" 3D glasses available (again this is important only if there is screen retention of polarization).  When they reversed that situation with the new line, this actually made their "recommended" glasses produce much darker results on these screens.

I am baffled why they haven't changed their website and manual recommendations for 3D glasses accordingly.

Sorry, yes. The RS4500 was the first one where JVC changed the polarizers. So RS1000, 2000, 3000 and 4500 are all the same.

Barry, I hope you've figure out the issue with your RS-3000, and the polarization sounds like it has to be the problem especially if it's just occurring with 3D.

If that's the case - sorry for your troubles but YIPPPEEE! I switched a couple of years ago from a Sony to a JVC and was extremely disappointed that, having a polarization retaining screen, I suddenly couldn't watch 3D movies with the nice, comfy 3D glasses I had found after trying several models. Ended up spending a bunch more on the Xpand branded version of JVC's glasses, which were about 1/2 the price of JVC's version. But they are heavier and less comfortable, so between that and the general decline of 3D material I've only watched a few movies in 3D on the JVC.

This would be a nice perk of eventually upgrading to a new native 4K JVC! I had no idea this had been done.
