Not happy at all with JVC 3000

Apologies, I misinterpreted Barry's post and got a bit excited since it sounded very similar to an issue I have with my JVC RS-500.

Something definitely sounds off, at the price of the 3000 there should be no qualms about its brightness being so low.

What screen do you have - is it one that retains polarization? That's the big issue with previous JVCs.

< First I would like to thank everyone for their help and suggestions.

Everything is fine, in fact, terrific  with my new JVC 3000 projector and my Stewart 100 screen.

The JVC rep spent 2 hours here setting thing’s up correctly. Then, the picture was so good, he actually stayed for 40 minutes to watch a 3D movie (IMAX Under the Sea!!!!) It was unbelievably good.

Basically, he said my installer did a great job in setting things up mechanically, but the setting on the actual projector, including focus, zoom, color saturation, gamma and so many things need to be adjusted.  He took his time explaining to me each setting he changed.  I now have three settings: Natural for TV watching, A setting for 4k, and a new setting for 3D.  he appreciated when I said it was too dark.

The people at Stewarts screen said to get the 100, not the 300, because the screen would be too bright and would tire your eyes with a projector of 2200 lumens.  I mention that because the JVC rep said that he usually gets a headache watching too much 3D, but not so here.  The reflection was perfect.

It just worked out so well. And thanks to David and the gang for suggesting the right screen.

Glad to hear things are now working properly. We figured it was just set up wrong. Your dealer should have known better to at least make sure the focus was correct. Either way, its nice to hear JVC was willing to step in and help.

Damn right.

I should mention that when he first measured lumens it came out to be about 1600. After his adjustments  it came out to 2166. The focus needed adjustments as well as the alignment of the colors.

One reason it. Took so long isthat he wanted it on for 20 minutes before adjusting.

Great news. I'm glad you have it working properly and can now enjoy your theater. I know you waited a long time for that projector.
