I think HDR will always be compromised with projectors vs HDTV's, due to the way they work. On the other hand, a big glass screen is not a theater and has a totally different look. I prefer front projection. So, you must pick your poison so to speak. The HD Fury Integral has been great to just remove HDR from the equation entirely !
From: http://www.trustedreviews.com/oppo-udp-203-review:Naturally, there’s also HDR to SDR conversion for older TVs that don’t support HDR10 – it can be selected in the setup menu as one of four HDR modes, alongside an option to output HDR with the metadata stripped.

While I don't always trust " Trusted Reviews ", I'm going to trust this one, and now my excitement level is up to 110% to get this player.
Day one purchase for me... I am trying to decide if I should upgrade my 1080p projector or let the Oppo down scale...I am really interested in the Atmos audio on certain UHD discs...
A question for Mike. How soon after Oppo begins shipping to their own retail customers, who have ordered thru the Oppo web site, do you expect AV Science to receive their first batch of 203's?A second question for any existing Oppo owner that pre-ordered an earlier model player thru the Oppo web site. How long was it from the time you received the Oppo email for pre-orders until Oppo actually began shipping the new players?
