Went back to my old stuff (would have had 'THX-MAN' all along like me other sites but some F'r stole it from me back in 2002 on AVS ).I could see how Craig may have misunderstood with my moniker at the bottom saying... Kevin (Krichter1 on AVS Forum). Reading is a skill not yet mastered by some.
You are blowing your opportunity to run under the radar. I have done the calculations, I can get around 36FL max brightness on my screen, so I think HDR should look pretty good in my room. Ready for the 203.
36fl is a lot of light.. Whats screen and projector is that.?I just calibrated a projector that measured 2.600.000.000:1 at 12-16fl and a 2.56 gamma on a 100" 1,3gain steward screen.. now that was a dynamic SDR image, but pushing HDR on that would make it very non dynamic or add a lot of white clipping. How do you calibrate for HDR? is there any test discs out.?
I missed that entirely Kevin - DOH !
I had my JVC calibrated by Chad B (on AVSf), and the 2nd time he was out he brought over a new Samsung HDR calibration disc he said he recv'd the week before from his certification training (so yes there is something out there now).
Do you know how he compensated for the missing light output? I dont expect you had 1000nit/ 291fl on screen, did he clip white or go for a dimmer image.?
... I too am looking forward to the release of the new 4K player from Oppo....2. It will have two HDMI ports. One for video with HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 and the second HDMI port for audio only for connection to legacy equipment. Contact your dealer for preordering.
Post a few more times and it will be gone.
On that second item, is that second HDMI specifically for music or is it driven by the changes in HDMI protocol?
The first HDMI port can transmit video and audio. The second HDMI port is for audio only. For those that do not have an AVR or prepro that has HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.
Have you heard any updates on a release date Mike?
Still around the middle of December. Think of it as a Christmas present. You were not one of those that got into your presents early were you.
