So what gamma and max light output do you calibrate that to. UHD movies output in SDR still dont compare to HD SDR.

That depends - what display are you watching them on ? On my JVC RS600, HDR does more harm than good, since it raises black levels dramatically. Using " The Revenant " as an example, the bright parts of the scenes were already bright on my set up with Blu Ray ( about 18 foot lamberts ), but the black levels are extremely good. HDR makes the blacks look grey, since it disables the iris. Using the Integral, I still get the wide color gamut and better detail. So whether HDR looks better or not, will come down to what you watch it on.

Current 4K settings on my JVC RS600 ( NO HDR ) –
Color profile – BT. 2020
Color Temperature – 6500K
Gamma – Custom – 2.4
Picture Tone – 6 ( or up to 8 )  Dark Level – 4 ( or 5 )
Contrast 5   Brightness  7
MPC – default ( 5 )
Manual Iris -7   Auto Iris 1  Low Lamp
Input Level Auto   Color Space Auto

Samsung Settings –
Sharpness Contrast +1 Brightness +1
HD Fury Integral setting -  SDR BT2020, you need to set the Integral to custom mode 10 - 4K60 420 12bits BT2020 all sound.

I see you adjust a lot of brightness and contrast, is that to change the clipping points of black and white.? Ill guess you have some white clipping with those settings and that makes the average scenes look brighter, compensating  the HDR mastering.?

Most of these settings ( for 4K UHD with the Samsung 4K player ) were first posted on AVS Forum by " Manni ", Kris Deering and others. Note that I also directly compared the 4K UHD with the Blu Ray ( using my calibrated user setting for 1080p ) also. These settings are for SDR BT2020 (to play UHD Blurays in SDR with the wide colour gamut using the HD Fury Integral to strip the HDR capability from the display ). My HDR settings are quite different. We really need 4K test patterns / calibration discs to become widely available. This is close enough for now. The picture looks excellent. I have 10 new 4k Blu Rays coming so i can really do some tests soon !!

We saw it on page three of this thread !!
Sorry Craig... I missed it. Could I make a suggestion that the links be inserted in the first thread so everyone see them. Eventually the thread will be very long, and this is a type of link that I think would be great to have in the first post of the thread.

Count on December 31st. Then you will be happy when it arrives earlier. I'll just be happy if it arrives by Xmas Eve !

That would be great if they were released, and shipped to arrive by Xmas eve!

It is looking pretty good for the unit to have the ability to strip out HDR from the start, rather than having to have it added in an update.
