With the new firmware. The strip meta works well with tr luminance slider. The other issue I see is the slider settings return to default when the unit is turned off. Am I missing something?

Sounds like the 203 is headed in the right direction. Not sure about the slider though.

The slider is the way it is for now.  Remember that this is an "experimental" feature.  OPPO will make changes probably dependent on the demands of other mainline features.  I always assume that the "strip metadata" function will normally be simply a bottom priority item.

What HDMI cable are you using?

I would think that at this point, no one should be asking this question if you are using 4k/UHD w/ HDR, but I tend to be a constant forum reader, so maybe its just me. 

Regardless of how much you pay, only Certified Premium High Speed HDMI cable (with the certified emblem) should be used at any point in the data flow.  IOW, ALL the HDMI cables in your setup should be certified premium.  Monoprice has them for under $5.  Amazon also has some inexpensive "certified premium" cables.  My personal recommendation is that you order a couple of additional cables for backup.  I have two backups -- one is the cable provide by OPPO and has not even been opened. 

Certified cables have been individually test and certified for 18GB data flow.  They "should" work.  But even tested cables can fail, hence the backups.  For you long run projection guys, the 18GB data link can be dubious over 25 feet.  I've heard (no experience at all) that some have success with fiber cables. 

If they are not "certified premium", high priced cables are just so much junk likely destined to cause you problems.  One "AV installer" recently told me to use a cable from Best Buy priced at $350 for 6 ft that is not "certified premium".  High priced junk!

My " Monster Ultra HD Platinum Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet " cables aren't " certified premium" cables, but they work just fine. I should note though that my longest run is a 16 ', and the other ( 4K Blu Ray player to the receiver ) is 5'. Have had zero issues with them.

I don't find it surprising that they would work properly, Craig.  What I find surprising is those who have issues in their system and that still think their expensive cables cannot be the issue.  Other than the OPPO supplied cable, all my new ones are Monoprice certified premium.  Range from a couple of 6', a 10 ft up to a 20 ft.  All work just fine, but the most expensive one was $10. 

I also have an old Monster HDMI cable that I bought from BB when I first got an HD tv.  It also has never failed, but I have also not tried to pass 4K at 4:2:2 10 bit.  Just couldn't see the sense in asking for possible problems when I had a $4 certified premium on hand. 

Since HDMI cables have the rep of being "fragile", I'm happy to have the spares so that, in the event problems occur (I do at times need to move my equipment a bit) I can swap and run the Bob Pariseau test provided in that "other" OPPO thread.  I think some of the major pluses of the 203 is the exceptional control and I/O information provided by holding the INFO remote button.

Longer runs to projectors may be a different story. Many have had success with Celerity fiber-optic cables, which are not certified. I am using a 35' Tributaries fiber-optic cable, certified 18Gbps by DPL Labs, different than HDMI.org.

My 25 foot Blue Jeans Series 1 cable is not Premium Certified.  Blue Jeans even mentions on their website that they decided not to submit it for certification testing because they suspected this thick cable would fail the not-so-real-world "bend" test where the test consists of wrapping the cable tightly around a pole.  Even so, Blue Jeans recommends this cable over their certified cable for distances over 20 feet.

I purchased this Blue Jeans cable a year ago when there were no Monoprice Premium Certified cables.  But that didn't prevent Monoprice from claiming at the time that their Redmere Cabernet Active cables were all you needed for UHD.   I ended up sending two of them back.

From what I've read, for long runs you're right -- all you can really do is get the best recommended by a reliable manufacturer like BJ and hope.  I mentioned in that first post that fiber is a known option.  But like you, I would prefer to work with a reputable company like BlueJeans (though worth testing with a "certified premium" if you can get the length you want.  I think the most important factor is that, while you CAN pay $300-400 or more, if you aren't working with a reliable company that will make an exchange in the event of problems, it may just be money down the drain.  $350 is not, to me, a rational cost for a 6 foot cable under any circumstance.

Darbee told me at CES 2016 that there was a 4K version, but it was only going to be used in other products - not sold as a stand alone device. That's what Darbee told me ( 'cause I specifically asked ) !
