I hope they can do as good of a job as the Panny. Also I hope this is pretty high on Oppo's priority list.

I hope they will end up douing better than the Panasonic, and make a HDR convertion adjustment that dont mess with the white clipping point, but instead changes the SMPTE 2084 curve shape or break point.

Is there anyone that got the 203 that has compared the croma handling with HD blu ray, if its like the HDMI 1 or 2 out of the 103/105.?

I have a feeling the fix will happen faster than some realize.

I hope they give us the forced 24P output like they did on the previous players. Some projectors take forever re syncing from 60p to 24P HDR.

so good news and bad news...

good news is the wife somehow went online and pre-orded a opp 203 for me..and it was under the tree as the surprise of a lifetime!!! (yup shes a keeper)

bad is I wont be supporting AVS science :? but im sure I will be buying somthing from you at some point

hooked it up last night....and ran a few movie demos...so far so good!  I cant wait for HDR stripping to be corrected...cause some movies are so dark...I need to tweak a bit...but I think the oppo upscales better than the sammy...and it feels sooo good to finally have a quality player in the rack again!

merry xmas!

Numerous reports in the other forum of the Oppo not being able to play some UHD discs, video and/or audio stuttering, and complete lockup.   Suggestions made to wash the disc, even before first play?

Never had any issue with the Samsung player even with my fingerprints on the disc.

That doesn't sound too good. Hopefully the beta test phase ends soon.  :o

Maybe it should ship with a disc cleaner - http://images.monoprice.com/productlargeimages/51641.jpg

I think the disc washing is just a placebo effect.  At this point, just ejecting and reinserting the disc probably works just as well.

Maybe there is a problem with the laser in some units, or a firmware update is needed to fine tune read error correction algorithms.   Could be anything.

Doesn't seen like everyone has this problem, so I would hope a firmware update solves it fairly quickly.
