Got my e-mail invite from Oppo yesterday, ordered, and will have it secured!  However, I shouldn't have to worry about as much teething pain, as it'll be like so much other equipment (boxed up in storage for my new room, to be opened around March)!!!

Buying home theater equipment, and not using it for 90 days, is never a good idea. if you get equipment that is defective or " DOA ", usually you can get it replaced right away. Wait 90 days ( or even 30 days ), and it has to go in for warranty repair. Just saying.

Oh yeah....totally get that.  I'll probably hook it up to the 4K flat panel in the LR for a test, and check things out.  But, as far as tweaks, firmware updates (streaming, Dolby Vision), etc.  I'll not be in a rush.

Good thing you are in no rush for Dolby Vision, since none of the UHD Blu Rays that I know of have Dolby Vision.

I hope they will add streaming like on the 103D i have, as the oppo is the best streamer i have seen..  And i would hate having to go true all the streaming boxes out there and risk not finding one that performs as well as the OPPO.

We appreciate that. And, I'm thinking that not getting one of the very first units gives Oppo time to fix some software problems that have already been reported. I already went through the initial " teething pains " with the Samsung. I'd prefer they fix bugs before I get the new 203. Sometimes it pays to wait just a little bit.

That was exactly my thought -- was planning to wait until at least Jan. anyway.

I guess I am not in too much of a hurry now. So for two years I have owned a projector capable of paying 4K BD's, I have waited six months for the Oppo to become available and now that it is finally shipping, I do not have a projector that can play 4K BD's. I sold my RS600.

Why in the heck would you do that?!  Are you doing the same as Craig (w/ the 4500)??   ???

Seriously considering it and knew I would need to sell the RS600 to do so. You never know how long it will take to sell a used projector, so I started a month early. It sold very quickly.

Except I decided to keep my RS600 for right now. In fact, if I can figure out a way to keep the RS600 and get an RS4500, I just might try and pull that off. Might make for an interesting comparison / shootout !

Now I'm just biding my time, waiting for the new Oppo 203. And waiting for more 4K movies to be available on UHD Blu Ray. We are up to a whopping 163 titles now. 1/2 of which I'm not interested in.

Wow that is shocking to me (I thought your 600 was fairly golden).  Guess those "AVS discounts" must be HUGE to afford that machine (good for you & Craig tho)!   ;)

Wow tho... having BOTH a 600 & 4500 in my room... Nirvana!  :D

The A/B comparison of the RS600 and RS4500 would be very interesting especially on a non-scaled 4K sourced UHD BD.

Now I just need to get an RS4500 and an Oppo 203 ! That's going to take a few weeks.

Probably not as big as you are thinking here, but usually come out okay, if sold in a year. Allows us to try out the new stuff and report how they compare.

For those that use an A-lens, we have another choice for vertical stretch, since the 203 can do vertical stretch of 4K BD's as long as the disc does not prohibit it. :)
