I can't even imagine the pic being any better than your RS600, as that picture was AWESOME! Let me know when you have the new one all setup, as I would love to see it in action too.

A poster on the other forum claims to have gotten an email reply from Oppo regarding their sign up page for email notifications:

Yes, we will be informing customers when a purchase opportunity becomes available if they are signed up for the newsletter.

The players will likely be exclusive to our website for the first month of release then we will make them more widely available through our retail and custom installer partners.

Told us a week or two. I suspect the demand is pretty good, so Oppo is capitalizing on this. I suspect that may be why the price may be higher than Oppo initially suggested. :(

Posts on "the other" forum say Oppo rep has said pre-order start next week and another post says units begin shipping just a couple of days later, on Dec. 16th.

With the way distribution is handled in other parts of the world, information on release dates is all over the map.  Then there is the "*" on the Oppo website in reference to the December release date.

*-Projected.  Actual release date tentative and subject to changes.

Most comments about information from international distributors point to a release date within the next couple weeks, as well as a reply from OPPO USA to a posters query.  We'll see soon enough.

Congratulations to the lucky forum members and soon-to-be UDP-Oppo 203 owners.

Mike - any official word when the players are actually expected to arrive at AV Science so you can start shipping out to those of us that placed early pre-orders, or at least when we can expect to start be getting messages from AV Science asking for our Credit Card info so that you can process our orders?  Also do you expect the AV Science price to be the same as the selling price on the Oppo Digital web site for their initial direct sales (but perhaps AVS will save us the Oppo shipping costs and in some cases sales tax that Oppo direct will charge)?

No word yet. For many, no sales tax and yes free shipping. :) As for when we will get them, we are still waiting on Oppo.

The Oppo 203 may have a similar chroma bug to that of the Samsung player. The Panasonic does not.

Sounds like it is being corrected prior to release - " According to a reliable industry source, it is this Chroma Bug 2020 bug (as coined by Spears) that’s causing OPPO to temporarily hold back the release of its UDP-203 UHD Blu-ray player while waiting for a firmware fix. "

The Oppo units will drop ship directly from the Oppo warehouse; however, dealer orders aren't expected to be released until 2-4 weeks after being released directly to consumers (ie. Oppo wants to get early bug reports directly from consumers to allow additional time for bug fixes before going mass distribution).  I've already sent out an email to my pre-order customers who did not provide a credit card number when placing their pre-order, to do so at this time to ensure their pre-orders are good to go when released by Oppo.   As Mike indicated, free shipping and in most cases, no tax on AVScience orders, however, although the cost is expected to be $499 - $599, final pricing won't be released by Oppo until likely the day they release direct ordering to consumers.
