I saw in other places that this has been leaked, and didn't see anything here...
I've heard that it's mainly a refresh, maybe a gaming (low latency) mode, and that this is something that should be seen next month at CES.

Speculation?.....GO! 8)

Slightly modified versions of the current projectors. Rumored to have a gaming mode. Since I don't game, no reason for me to get excited. The big question is does this mean nothing new at Cedia 2017, or will there be 2 refreshes of the current projectors in one year?

Since this is such a mild refresh, I think we will see something new at CEDIA 2017. At least I hope so.

The "terrible" lag times with the current JVCs are the ONE reason steering me away from them.  Even though I game very little, the opportunity to play with better input lag performance is a value proposition, to say the least!!!  ;) 8)

Bizarre timing. If JVC comes out with 3 new projectors at Cedia, it would mean they would have had 10 different models out during 2017.  :o

Get a BenQ 1070 for your gaming projector. $ 699.00 ! A little more than the cost of a new lamp for an RS500 / 600 !

Or, pending,"do-all" refreshed JVC notwithstanding, buy an Epson that has respectable performance for both...(I know, PQ isn't up to snuff with Contrast King)...This has been my dilemna....

If you game a lot, there s something to be said for putting the wear and tear on the cheap projector.

I don't game, but I agree, I would get a cheap BenQ to put all of that wear tear on versus a quality projector like JVC.

Us, non gamers view it this way, but serious gamers probably want image quality and low lag.

Mike, well said for the other camp!  I'm not what I would consider a "serious" gamer anymore, but I do enjoy it from time to time.  Image quality, no matter the source, is always a priority for me.  And, to have a "do-all" machine would be nice.  I don't game nearly like I used to, but having a superior product WITH gaming finesse would be superb!  The fact that the Epson has an excellent overall PQ, as well as low input lag is what has it as my current pick.  However, my buy time frame is first quarter of the new year (when I'll be finishing out the upstairs expandable)!  We'll see.....Picture quality and overall performance, gaming quality, and price are all a factor for me when that time comes in the next few short months....

I hope the time frame works out for you. Since JVC hasn't actually announced anything, we are just going by rumors and " vaperware " at this point !

But, they typically don't use large screens because projectors typically had more input lag.  Some are pretty low now...

The new models are to be announced at CES and shipping end of January, beginning of February. Gamers should be happy to now be able to enjoy JVC high native contrast, while playing games.

The replacement models have slightly higher lumen and contrast spec. For the 500/600 we are talking about 100 lumens and around 10,000 increase in contrast. While all improvements are good and puts these projectors at the top of the class at their price points, it is not enough of an increase to be able to see the difference compared to the current models. These increases are due to running improvements made in the manufacturing process. In other words, they have improved the manufacturing tolerances with the current line. The other addition is hybrid log-gamma for HDR.
