No lens cover? I like the fact that my HD250 has a motorized cover for the lens when not in use.
Well today we can start the countdown at 10 for IFA. We should start to hear factual information on the new upcoming projectors then.
I'm looking forward to hearing what gets released, and at what price points. I'm expecting them to replace the RS440, RS540, and RS640 with new models using the new 4K (non-eshift) chip, and possibly offer an eshift model to round out the bottom of the line.Currently, the 440/540/640 retails for $4,000/$6,000/$8,000 respectively.Assuming that JVC holds to those price points (is this what they do historically?), then they have room to position an eshift model at $2,000 or $2,500. If they were to use the 440, then I would say closer to $2,000, but if they were to use the 540, they could aim at the $3,000 range.I'm a little concerned about the first generation of any new technology implementation, because no amount of internal testing can replicate real-world experience from a retail roll-out. Hopefully, reviewers will have the chance to put whatever gets released through their paces in short order and we can see how JVC handled it out of the gate.Personally, I'd love to see them decrease the MSRP of the new models, but I don't know if there is any pressure that would force them to do so. I would love to see the 540 replacement dip under a $5,000 MSRP.Lacking that, then I guess I'll be looking at closeout eshift models (even though I'm concerned about reports of audible noise) or playing the wait-and-watch game for specials.
The MSRP price on the 4, 5 and 6 series dropped, because basically the same model (limited changes) was offered for three years. Now that a new model is being issued, prices could go back up.
Prices will go back up. That's as sure a thing as death and taxes.
So, should I hold off buying until November if I want one of the current/previous generation models or buy now? Or are you referring specifically to the new JVC models?
I'm pretty sure new models will cost more. Hard to say if the current models will drop any more - there aren't that many left.
