Had same issue with 3 usb thumb drives of various sizes. None worked but a memory card adapter.
It seems that when you get a USB stick that works set it aside somewhere where you can use it again. My ritual is make sure the projector has been off a few minutes, then turn it on and wait about 5 seconds then plug the USB stick in the service receptacle and clap your hands three times, jump up and down two times, and spin around once. You can probably skip the last three steps but prayer sometimes helps .
Is there maybe an overview of these bug fixes? It is mentioned that some(?) of the settings might be reset to factory. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for your feedback!I read somewhere that v3.51 also solved an issue for users with an external scaler (like Lumagen or Envy MadVR) that installed v3.50. Is this true? Thanks in advance,Jan
It's my understanding (I could be wrong) that neither 3.50 nor 3.51 changed anything with respect to easily configuring the HDR Auto-select Picture Mode for use with the Envy or Lumagen - specifically assigning a 'power' gamma like 2.4. To do this, you need to use the Autocal Software to have an Imported value of 2.4.I would like to be surprised that 3.52 fixes this, and makes it easy to assign a power gamma, but I'm not expecting this.I'm thinking this is probably what you were asking about, but again I could be wrong.
This is indeed the background of my question (and it is also good to know what bugs are solved... my reasoning: “If it is not broken, do not fix it”). I read in the MadVR manual that they strongly discourage(d) to install firmware v3.50. Currently I am not using an external scaler yet (I am considering to purchase one). As mentioned, I heard that v3.51 would enable an easier use of an external scaler than going back to an previous version of 3.5.Best regards, Jan
If you're considering an Envy or Lumagen, there is nothing to be gained by doing to 3.50, 3.51 or 3.52. These provide improvements in HDR performance with the Theater Optimizer. But if you use the DTM from either device, you won't be using that anyway, so there's really no point.I'm on 3.10, with no plans to update, as to the best of my understanding, there is nothing that I would gain, and configuring for the Envy is more problematic. There are vague references to Autocal tweaks, but until JVC explains in greater detail just what this means, so I can decide if there's anything of real value for me, I'll stick with 3.10.
Thanks again for your reply . I purchased my NX9 at the end of last year (so it is was delivered with v3.50 installed). Reason for asking. It would be nice to ‘quickly’ check the performance while comparing with and without an external scaler (and preferably in my own situation). Although many people say that an external scaler is even better, I can hardly imagine (but there is only one way to find out). For now I decided to change nothing yet, but maybe in the near future it would be nice to do such a shoot-out.Best regards, Jan
