2020 Denon AVR Owner's thread

I posted this on AVSForums (so JD has probably already seen it) but perhaps another reader might be able to weigh in: It is important for me that the X6700H is capable of turning off ALL video processing when acting as a passthrough to my Lumagen Radiance Pro. Several posters on vaious forum sites have indicated that there are video issues with the 4700, 6700 & 8500 models for this video chain. It's just become apparent that the X2700/3700H have the option "BYPASS" in the Video Mode submenu (p. 193: "Remove all video processing from the HDMI video path."), but the higher models in the series LACK this option (only options are "Auto", "Game"& "Movie"). This has just been confirmed by a friend who just checked this out on his X6700H. Denon/Marantz choice to make this feature deletion seems strange to me, as I'm unable to find any other X6700H submenu that allows the user to entirely defeat video processing. Is there a submenu in the X6700H which has an option to disable ALL video processing?

Thanks, Craig.  But this is not the same control  P.206 in the 6700 Manual is identical to p.185 in the 3700 manual.  These are not the same functions.  The control in the Video Mode that I referred to is on p.193 in the 3700 manual and 214 in the 6700 manual.

Firstly, I am not tech savvy, so it doesn't help my situation. My main system will work with everything, however if I turn on zone 2 or 3 the system cuts off and a red light flashes. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. 

Are you using the AVR to power Zones 2/3 or an external amp?   How do you have AMP ASSIGN set in regards to Zones 2/3?


Check to make sure that there are no loose Zones 2/3 speaker wires touching another post.

6700H amp assign question here.
I have a pair of speakers that would work great for wide channels.

When I go to 13.1 and choose  5ch SB & FW it shows fronts as 'pre'.

Does this mean it disconnects the amps to the front pre outs completely and I get the full 4.8Vrms out or do they remain on and I get the 1.44Vrms?

I am also uncertain if  the FW receive power or not?  the onscreen menu seems to suggest they do.

I am wondering if I can just add a beefy amp for the fronts or I still need to add something for wides in this config?
Continued research seems to indicate I can get a big 'un for the fronts, I would just like to know the Vrms out of the preouts for fronts in this configuration so I can pick the best amp for the job.

The X6700H is a 11CH model so in order to operate 13CH, you must add a 2CH external amp to power either the Front L/R or the Height 2 L/R speakers.  The Front L/R amps are not powered down, rather the signal is simply shunted from getting to them.  AFAIK, pre-outs are still 1.44 Vrms.

The speakers in the amp assign display menu read the same when you go Pre Amplifier mode so I just wasn't sure if it was a full disconnect or not.

 Sound United announced today that their solution to the HDMI 2.1 4k/120Hz and 8k issue will be to use the new SPK618 Adapter Kit.
 
 The new SPK618 adapter kit will be available to request for FREE (while the AVR is still in warranty) beginning May 15, 2021.

2020 Denon receiver question here (6700).

How do you load Audy multi-eq setting FROM the receiver to iPad if Room Correction and calibration and adjustments were made from a different laptop?
I have a thumb drive with the calibration file on it but my iPad does not have a file associated with opening it.

You would need to run the MultEQ Editor app from the iPAD.
