Not nearly as much money as K Scape. And of course it's all relative - Trinnov is a lot more coin than a Denon. Eventually one runs out of meaningful upgrades, but this one has wowed my guests!
How many and how big of hard drives did you get?
If I had to do any work involving computers in my theater, it would be a no go. I have enough time consuming hobbies elsewhere. Like hand loading long range rifle ammunition, which takes an enormous amount of time. And working on bikes, the house, the pool etc. I don't need the theater to suck up time too. Plug and play is where it's at for me.
My only issue with your setup is the Zapitti NAS. It uses RAID 5 which stripes data and parity across all of your disks. In the event of a multiple disk failure (even just 2), you might have to re-rip your entire collection. With my setup (UnRaid), I have the option to use single or dual parity and no data is striped. So worst case is a 3 disk failure and loss of data on one disk only. Be careful though, if one of your disks fails it’s possible another is not far behind - especially when you buy them all at once.Anyway, weren’t you the same guy saying it only takes a min or so to load a disk?! 😜

Two 16TB drives in a Pro 4K player would be not too expensive, and hold a lot of movies.2 x 16TB = 400 4K UHD Blu-rays / 800 Blu-rays
I have 303 4K UHDs, 1062 Blu-rays, and 64 Blu-ray 3D movies (and the collection is growing . I'd probably need the server. What would that cost...$5,000 or so? I can't seem to find pricing anywhere.
We sell them now - I'll email you an estimate. Personally, I'm culling out about 10% of my discs I doubt I'll watch again. I'm only ripping favorite movies with high re-watchability.
Have you ever built a PC? You could build a media server and even buy the Zapitti player for a lot less than $5k. It’s more expensive right now due to supply chain issues and component availability but I highly recommend doing some cursory reading on UnRAID (no affiliation, just a user for +12 years). The advantages over a Raid 5 configuration are worth it alone but the community is great and the software is constantly being upgraded. Other playback and front end solutions like Emby, Plex or Jellyfin are also easy to setup with the docker format. I personally use an nVidia Shield Pro (like a Zapitti Player for less) with Emby as my media interface (direct play via Shield vs transcoding). Nice thing about the Shield is use you can interface with any front end that has a Google store app unlike being limited to one offering. That one offering might be great for some but lacking for others…just depends on your needs.
