With the Paladin DCR, how well is it doing at the minimum 1.4:1 throw?  I need my project to be at approximately this distance due to my room layout.  The screen will be 72" tall which is a 186" diagonal.  So according to their specs, I'll have a 1" distortion around the edges that will need to go into a spill area?

It's working well enough that I don't notice the minor barrel distortion on the edge - certainly not compared to the increase in brightness.

That's a huge screen - the DCR lens would help you get as much brightness as possible.

With that size screen, 1" is lot a huge amount and once it is lost in the velvet, you will not be able to tell it in the image.

Yeah, I like my screen big!  Right now using a 2.8 High Power that is 72" tall and about 14' wide.  I sit 14' back and love it.  However I want to upgrade to an ST100 with laser projector (RS4500, ES5000, or next gen model...)

Guys sharing this here as I don't won't to post 'wide' to the community. I've gotten further follow up regarding the next gen to the 4500. Exciting, but expensive stuff.. We're talking a native 8K panel this time. However hold on to your hats, its going to be circa $80K MSRP so don't get too excited! No further details at this stage, so who know right now what other changes will be made in this next generation. Expect all to be unveiled at IFA Berlin. Same goes for the lower series new models

My thoughts exactly Mike, the VW5000 competitor aspect goes along with my earlier suspicions on what a new model might be aimed at. Definitely nothing for us current owners to worry much about with that kind of jump into the next price bracket. Think I'm actually more curious to find out what happens in the lower series model range when IFA comes around.

That said, if they've got production of 8K panels going, that would lend some credence to the idea that they may have 4K panels in the models that will replace the current e-shift models.  One would think they wouldn't start production of 8K panels until they have the production of 4K panels pretty well sorted out, even if those 8K panels will surely be in pretty limited quantities.

Would be pretty good separation on the price points. $80,000 gets you 8k, laser and a lot of lumens. $35,000 gets you 4K, laser and 3,000 lumens. Under $10,000 gets us ?

My guess is we see a 3,000 lumens RS4500. Though more lumens would be nice. Change I would like to see with the RS4500 is a different DCI P3 filter. One that gives you around 98% of DCI color space, rather than 103/104%, so that it does not cost you 40% of the brightness. Get it down to 25% or less and many would use it.
