What did you mean when you said "I shifted one click to the left" if you didn't know about convergence correction?

I used the panel alignment function and I now realize that is what Craig is referring to.  I thought he was talking about some sort of auto conversion correction.

Something a little off topic....

The Supplied lens cap.....who uses it ? has anybody taken notice of just how much clearance from the front lens element when the cap is installed!! The cap has an Aluminium disc on the internal face ...it actually makes contact with the Lens element when installed!!! NOT HAPPY..

Maybe glue a piece of felt or something soft over the aluminum. I don't really ever use it, but in my case it also fits the port hole my RS4500 shines through ( 1/2" MDF board ), so the aluminum wouldn't be near my lens now, I don't think.

hey Craig...now that i know the glory of a flagship PJ in the rs600.  how does the 4500 compare?  close...blows it away?

when i had the 400 in my room I honestly didnt think it could be much better...but i am consistently blown away how much better the colors and blacks are now

Considering there was a possibility of your getting divorced for buying the RS600, I hesitate to answer this question.

yeah thats still in flux right now too. lmao.....gotta unload my PJ and fast!!!(im the dummy who bought one for my dad...and he refused it so if im divorced its my dads fault)

i have no means of buying the uber expensive 4500 (maybe in 2 years when avscience blows them out??).....but just curious how much better it could get ..and judging by your answer....it might be a big step up lol

watched the first hour...and realized i had another 1.75 hours to go...and was already falling asleep.

the sound is LOUD....and the picture is great...story is meh so far...to be continued...

I check out mine to see the picture quality - which was really good.  I have yet to make it through Blade Runner 1 without falling asleep so won't be watching this anytime soon.

While watching "Victoria & Abdul" (Blu-ray) with a bunch of friends the other night, one friend blurts out "my God - look at that picture - did you get a new screen"?  Another friend blurts out "it's his new 4K laser projector " ! Seriously ! Even friends that haven't been over in quite a while could see the difference. We watched the first few minutes of " Baby Driver " after that so he could see something 4K on the projector !

I had a friend over two weeks ago who thinks having a theater room is an inconvenience. He doesn't understand why someone wouldn't just watch a movie in their living room on a TV. He hadn't seen Star Wars Episode VII so we watched that in my theater. At the end of the movie I asked him what he thought about watching it on the big screen with a projector and he said "Yeah...I'd do this again." I think his hatred of projection comes from terrible commercial movie theater experiences. He was amazed at how much better the picture quality was than what he'd previously seen from commercial theaters. I told him the image quality is about as good as it's going to get. I may have just converted someone over to the dark side...

Speaking of blu-rays, I swear that mine became blurrier the more I watched UHD.  I viewed UHD titles as 'decently sharp' and blu-rays reminiscent of DVDs.      Crazy since I never used to think that Blu-rays lacked resolution before.   Honestly, I think my Sim2 gave a sharper impression overall - probably due to the high ANSI contrast (and no, I'm not suggesting that the Sim2 is the better projector in any other way and I'm very happy with my JVC).

So, after reading reports here and there about madVR 's great scaling I have been curious - but pessimistic - how good it could be.  After all, I could scale 1080p in the JVC, the Panny, or my Lumagen and the JVC was the better of all 3.  Still, I suspected that setting up madVR involves jumping through hoops upside down and praying to the video gods and I wasn't overly motivated. 

Until I learned that you can now rip UHDs.  I say 'now' but it's been a little while - I'm just late to the party.  I already have a movie server and truly appreciate how fast you can load up a movie or jump around chapters from a hard disc and not have to load discs.  I often revisit movies I've seen to watch favorite chapters etc., so my motivation escalated.   

Well it took me a couple days to put everything together but I have to say I'm very happy I made the move.  I already have 23 titles ripped.  But I'm here to say that madVR's scaling is truly top notch.  There is a VERY visible difference with 1080p titles.  I had to pick up my jaw off the floor several times yesterday when surfing around my collection.  The resulting image is very natural and film-like and no longer feels like I'm watching a DNR'd 4k disc. 

Anyways, just thought I'd share.  Not for technophobes, but if you're a PQ nut like I am and not scared of computers, it's worth it.
