Hmm.  No mention of dynamic laser.  I have the firmware that was pulled and I really like it - I'm concerned that the latest version won't have those improvements and that the latest will be a step backwards in picture quality as a result.

So far I see zero difference from the last firmware. The dynamic laser dimming works just the same as far as I can see.

Just as a follow up, I tested part of " John Wick 2 " in 4K, and watched " La La Land " in it's entirety last night with my wife. No issues - the laser dimming works just as well and it seems unchanged. I then put the very end of " Lost City of Z " on Blu-ray on, and switched my 1080p user mode to laser dimming mode 2 - same issues as before. I recommend mode 1 dimming for Blu-ray / 1080p and mode 2 dimming for 4K. Don't use mode 2 dimming for Blu-ray.

Do you see any difference in sync times?

Not really. I'll try and pay more attention to that tonight.

Hello folks.  Just saying hello over is this forum as I hope to participate here more often.  That other place is starting to drive me insane.  Glad to have found you guys over here.

On topic I installed a Ruipro fiber cable yesterday and it's working flawlessly.  I happily put the Tributaries fiber cable back in it's box to be returned.  Turns out Tributaaries stopped selling it b/c of the usb voltage issues.  Pretty annoyed that they released a cable that they obviously hadn't thoroughly tested yet.

I also installed new FW and I haven't noticed any change yet.

I have an entire box of " 18Gbps " HDMI cables that don't work. If anybody wants them " just pay shipping and handling ".

I agree. I bet I have over 150LF of HDMI cable that is said to pass 18Gbps and doesn't.

What period of time after start up  are people setting their focus on the Z1?

On the E-Shift series i used to wait for 20min or so before setting focus as it would change over this period from start up.

I check it weekly and wait at least 15 minutes just to be safe.
