Craig are you still using laser dimming?
I use Mode 1 dimming. Kris mentioned he uses Mode 2, but I tried it again and it's too aggressive. Mode 1 works well on my sized screen is is almost entirely invisible. I do turn it off for " Get Out " on 4K - there is one scene ( the dark place ) that trips it up. That's about it. Watched " Alita : Battle Angel " on 4K again last night with the latest Lumagen firmware. Everyone agreed that very dark scenes look outstanding, and there was a consensus that the picture looks much better now that Kris has calibrated it with the Lumagen in the mix !
Thanks for the info. I have it disabled right now so I was wondering what others were using whom also have the Lumagen RS4500 combo.
Mode 1 gives a slight boost to contrast with very little visible artifacts. Mode 2 gives a significant boost to contrast performance and will also go to a full black with a scene that blacks out. But it can also be very aggressive with a very dark image that has very little white in it. You'll mostly see this with small white credits on a black background, but it is pretty rare outside of credits and titles.
I always used mode 2 as well, but Craig disabled them when he did my calibrations and was wondering what others with the Lumagen in the chain were using before I turned it back on. Thanks for the input!
Alita on 4K might be some of the best demo material on my RS4500 yet !
Loved this movie and it's definitely demo worthy. Craig did you and Kris get any Nit measurements?
