Really glad you are enjoying Craig. Image looked fantastic while I was there! The RS4500 continues to be one of the best projectors out there.

The more material I watch the better I appreciate your calibration in conjunction with the new tone mapping. The darkest scenes in " Shazam " on 4K UHD Blu-ray look outstanding. Bright scenes do too, but those are easier to make look good. It's the balance of bright and dark scenes - everything looks far more realistic now. 8)

Just catching up on this thread.

I've been loving my RS4500.  I'm still astounded how good this can look.  Since I own a Lumagen I recently checked out the dynamic tone mapping and it worked very well.  However, I primarily use my Lumagen as a video switcher as I use a HTPC with madVR (for scaling and HDR tone mapping).

One thing that really upped my game is using the BT2020 filter.  It makes what I feel is a significant difference (color saturation, depth) that was never possible before dynamic tone mapping - which can compensate for the light loss of the filter (along with easing up on the manual iris).  I have a decent sized screen and used to have to use high laser to get a satisfying image but for the past year I only use mid laser and the image I get is just incredible.  The shadow detail is so much better now - it's as if I upgraded to a new projector with higher contrast.

JVC-RS4500 4k projector, Lumagen Pro, ST130 138" scope screen,
Panasonic DMP-UB900 & Plex Media Server
Classe SSP-800, Bryston amplification, Wilson Audio speakers (7.2) + Buttkickers.

Isn't amazing how the dynamic tone mapping ( whether via MadVR or the Lumagen ) has transformed 4K / HDR ? It amazing to me how movie like The Revenant can look so much better than they did a few years ago ! And make the RS4500 really shine !

Yes, Alita looks amazing.  There's still a lot of movies that I haven't seen yet - I have lots to look forward to!

In the past week I saw two great looking ones: Sully & The Greatest Showman.   Very impressive on our projector!

Love both of those - The Greatest Showman has some great audio ! Tomorrow it's " Moon " on 4K ( haven't seen that in a while and never in 4K ), and friends are coming over Sat. night to watch " The Mule " in 4K, which I really like too.

Meanwhile, movies old and new slowly stack up - I can't keep up during pool season !

I've been watching my RS4500 for about 32 months now. Between the Lumagen dynamic tone mapping and the Panamorph DCR lens, the picture is better than ever. I amassed a stack of new movies ( and older ones released on 4K Blu-ray ) that I need to catch up on. Thank goodness winter is coming !

Which in turn lowers the B-stock pricing on the 4500. :)

I've been loving my current RS4500 / Panamorph DCR lens / Lumagen / Stewart StudioTek 130 setup lately. Winter is going to be movie watching time while it's raining.
