...well Mike, I'm also having trouble with the OPPO: when turned on the screen is blank...no OPPO icons or anything...but I was able to play a DVD and 4K (the unit upconverts all content, I believe, other than 4K of course, to the 4K level).Back to my saga of the "Old Man and the DISH Sea", if anyone is at all interested on this ongoing craziness...It turns out that I am the lucky one of two (the other in another state) having the same problem of receiving NETFLIX...DISH has no record of this happening to anyone else (that warms my heart). This Wednesday, the Dish tech. supervisor and the Manager (of what, I don't know) are both coming out to....to...oh what the hell...If this turns out to be the end point of the story, I'll just have to live without NETFLIX although I've become so addicted to the channel's not having commercials thereby giving each episode in a series a nice flow that I'll miss that most of all. Yes, I can watch/record shows of the CW channel and fast forward through the commercials but it is not at all the same (and the quality of the image and sound from NETFLIX is much better than the CW).(Someone up there is not watching out for me.)One more entry after they leave on Wednesday and I'll stop this outrageous saga.
Did you ever get your Netflix working 100% ?
Wow - 4K streaming with Netflix has come a soap opera. Can't wait for the next episode. You're giving me more excuses to continue my no streaming Luddite ways................
Craig,I'm only getting started! Time Warner tech. came and went. The ethernet cables for my phone and internet were in the wrong modems (I have two: one for the phone and one for the internet) to start with! We then ran a test for the DISH connections from the modem to the router to the DISH HOPPER and all was well! (The test was run via the DISH menu diagnostics entry). WELL, all is not well. The NETFLIX logo appears on the screen and remains there! I cannot do anything but rebut the DISH HOPPER..which I did several times. The TW tech said that it was something going on via the DISH receiver that is the cause of the problem. DISH tech. is comming out Monday am (was supposed to be tomorrow, Saturday, but a got an email that it was cancelled! I called and raised hell. They could not tell me why it was cancelled and/or who cancelled it).If you like this ongoing saga, I'll be glad to continue after the DISH tech. leaves (unless I lock him up in a closet until he finds a solution).
Oh don't stop until the final chapter. I'm going to knock on wood regarding my 1080p Dish Hopper, and be glad that it is working ! I await the next chapter...............
yes, Mike...I'll know more or less Monday...
Ed, hope you have a good Christmas week.
I need to ask to be transferred to...wait for this..."DOCTOR DISH AGENT!"
- if they said you were supposed to talk to " Agent Smith ", I'd be worried !
Craig,...who, me, worry?!......well it seems that my misadventures in 4K NETFLIX reception may be coming to an end......Time Warner stabilized the minimum download speed of their service to me which nowhovers between the low-mid 70's to the mid 80's...I've run several tests yesterday and, againthis morning (it's 8:25am in sunny/cold Southern California).I have had no trouble yesterday, after TW did it's thing in getting NETFLIX; however, the for therest of the day, all I got was 1080i receiption. This morning I, again, ran a download test fromTW then put on NETFLIX...and, voila!...4K...I'm not jumping up and down just yet because Idon't know if NETFLIX will fluctuate between 4K and 1080i...I'll wait for a day or two to see ifit stabilizes at 4K.I'm in correspondence with a Doctor Dish Agent (he is not as scary as his title implies) via severalphone calls and related to his answering device this am how things are.If this is THE END, I feel, in a way, sad that I can't continue with further chapters/pages of thissaga. I feel that I've either had a captive audience with all reading this or that I've imposed mystory on all of you!One question though...the JVC projector makes a rev sound (if I can describe it that way) beforethis am's NETFLIX connection and the resultant 4K image...is this normal?...does the JVC makeinternal adjustments via these sounds when it changes from, let's say, 1080 to 4K?... ...either way...have a great rest of season holiday/vacation and have fun!
You are probably hearing eshift engage for 4K. At least it sounds like things are working for you. What an epic !
