Whoever it turns out to be at fault... I hope you get reimbursed for their services during the time it was not working.

...well...time will tell...

LATEST:  ...both Time Warner and DISH  technicians were at my home yesterday morning and spent a long time working on the NETFLIX problem...when they left I watched two episodes of a series in 4K!...BUT...after lunch, I put on NETFLIX only to have ALL the problems reappear!...the DISH tech. supervisor, who said he tried every type of correction called his supervisor...the end result is that, on Wednesday, he will come out with the highest end router(sp) which. he believes will solve the problem...I don't have any great faith in all of this...I don't understand why all this is happening in the first place let alone a resolution to it all...but, the glass is still half full, so....(until next time)....(am I the only person in the world that has this problem?!!)...

I don't know if you are the only person with this problem, but this is one reason I only watch 4K on UHD Blu Rays, and pretty much never stream movies myself. Only Dish for broadcast TV. I can't believe your epic continues !

Craig,

That's funny (if I weren't on the edge of a nervous breakdown!...tongue in cheek).

“Burdens are for shoulders strong enough to carry them.”

Hope it all gets straighten out for you.

Mike,
Thanks.  What I don't understand is why there is a breakdown in NETFLIX communicating with the DISH HOPPER receiver.  Sometimes, when the NETFLIX logo disappears from the screen, the JVC tries to make a sound as if it were revving up searching for a signal (only on occasion, though).

(I'm receiving the OPPO 4K player tomorrow and it had better work!)

Well there has already been one report of an Oppo 203 owner having problems with it working with his JVC. This is a guy that already owns the Samsung and has the Samsung working in his system. He has submitted a report to Oppo.

We need more users testing to get a more accurate view of the situation. That should happen over the next few days.

...well Mike,  I'm also having trouble with the OPPO:  when turned on the screen is blank...no OPPO icons or anything...but I was able to play a DVD and 4K (the unit upconverts all content, I believe, other than 4K of course, to the 4K level).

Back to my saga of the "Old Man and the DISH Sea", if anyone is at all interested on this ongoing craziness...It turns out that I am the lucky one of two (the other in another state) having the same problem of receiving NETFLIX...DISH has no record of this happening to anyone else (that warms my heart).

This Wednesday, the Dish tech. supervisor and the Manager (of what, I don't know) are both coming out to....to...oh what the hell...If this turns out to be the end point of the story, I'll just have to live without NETFLIX although I've become so addicted to the channel's not having commercials thereby giving each episode in a series a nice flow that I'll miss that most of all.  Yes, I can watch/record shows of the CW channel and fast forward through the commercials but it is not at all the same (and the quality of the image and sound from NETFLIX is much better than the CW).

(Someone up there is not watching out for me.)

One more entry after they leave on Wednesday and I'll stop this outrageous saga.

The Oppo problem is a bug and Oppo should correct this pretty quick. Pop a disc in and hit play and the movie should play. As for Netflix, this is unbelievable that they can't solve your problem.

Mike,
The last go round with the OPPO was that I did put a disc in and there was no picture but there was sound and I did listen to a CD).

As far as NETFLIX/DISH is concerned, what can I say.  I did purchase the Roku4 and HDMI 4k 3x1 Switch for them to also play around with (as the supervisor suggested).  I was told that, if there was a solution not needing the Rodu4 and the HDMI switch, I could always return them (from Amazon.com).

Update: Re: OPPO...today I've had no trouble in getting the OPPO opening screen.  Maybe it needed a break in period?...

Change the output on the Oppo to 4:2:0  10 bit or 12 bit, rather than auto. That will be an easier signal to send.

Mike, easier said than done...now I cannot get the OPPO screen!  I've tried shutting the unit off and on; I've tried going to the menu while a blu-ray is playing but to no avail...is there a way to make your suggested changes from the OPPO read out on the unit?...(I'm sorry for taking up so much space when this is supposed to be a discussion re: projectors.)

...well...as of yesterday, the OPPO decided to act correctly.  The menu appears upon turning the unit on and the video and picture both appear at the same time.  Thanks to all for reading this saga and hopes that this is the end of the troubles.

Happy Holidays to one and all.

Maybe it gave itself a firmware update !
