I'm designing my theater room and am thinking about a 135" wide (155" diagonal) 16x9 screen using V6 material. That's around 71sqft. Would a JVC RS500 be able to handle this size in a batcave? Thanks!
For 1080P content, you would get around 19/20FL with projector at short end of throw and a new lamp. That is plenty bright in a bat cave, but that is with iris wide open, so does not give you long lamp life. If you can live with 10 to 12FL, then you should be fine. If you have to have 14FL, then it works, but you will not have very long lamp life. I guess the question then comes down to, is the projector a long term solution or do you plan to replace in 1 to 3 years. If plan is to replace, once true 4K gets cheaper, then, yes, I would get the screen size I wanted, since most likely your next projector will be brighter.
Really great point. I could definitely see myself using a "stop-gap" projector for 1-2 years until higher brightness 4k/HDR machines get below the $10k price point.I might even consider getting extra magnetic masking panels if I need to make the screen size a bit smaller to save on brightness as the bulb ages. Though, I'm sure I'll be bummed when my screen gets smaller after being used to the native size!It would be nice to not have to ever change out the screen frame and/or screen material...I'd much rather swap the projector out.
Mike what would be the Fl on a 130" 2.35 screen with this material and the rs400 as close as it can be fully zoomed?thansk!
130" wide or 130" diagonal?
