AVS Getting Out of Residential Space?

Am I imagining that there was a post a few days ago from Laurie saying that AVS was getting out of the residential market and just going to do commercial sales?

Now that post seems to have disappeared, or I can't find it.

Or was I having a fever dream?

Nope, not your imagination.  I had saved a link to the post, but it doesn't work anymore.

I was expecting it to reappear, in line with the usual Friday sales.

Maybe it was a mistake?  It had some pretty specific details, though.

Yeah it said the forums would continue as is, but that the store would no longer do residential sales.

That announcement was made months ago in the sale section:  Demo rooms liquidation sale - AVS Special Deals - AVS Discussions

This was very different, talked about the commercial side of the business going forward, and included an end date.

At this point, I am not closing the residential end of the business, but I sure would appreciate more sales!

When Mike and Craig were around, I'd refer business to them whenever asked for a recommendation. Now that I'm retired, I don't talk to as many people each day like I used to, but if anyone asks, I'll be sure to recommend you guys.

But reading between the lines, it does sound like things are slowing down in the residential market for high end home theater. That's too bad for us enthusiasts.

especially with big box stores not pushing the HT experience.  Although our Best buy still has the magnolia (although not branded as such) area still in full flow with mutiple AVR's and speaker combos with a PJ setup
