Hello. New to the site.

Trying to add Schiit Midgard headphone amp and Sennheiser open back headphones to my HT system. Opted for XLR connection from Oppo BDP 105 to XLR in on Schiit Midgard.

Since all 5.2 speakers go to Marantz 7702mkii, speakers play when I turn on headphone amp at the same time, headphones are working.

What am I doing wrong.

Assuming you have to have the Marantz turned on for HDMI video output from the Oppo to a display.

Can you not just mute the Marantz, since the Oppo is providing the separate audio output path to the Schiit amp?

The Oppo also feeds the Marantz. Probably all output ports on Oppo  work at the same time. Choices.
1. Mute Marantz.
2. Don't turn on Marantz.
