We finally got to see this movie on Blu-ray this weekend, from the library of all places. It never showed up for rent on Netflix, so I was happy to be able to borrow it.
We watched it with a friend, and while he's not a Star Wars fan, he did grow up in the era of the movie, and those parts really hit home with him.
For me, the highlight was when Pat got to visit you-know-where to see the models of you-know-what. That scene gave me actual goosebumps from the excitement of the moment. A true glimpse of geek amazement that translated so strongly to those of us in the audience whose imaginations were lit on fire during that time.
I don't think we need the extended cut, but I'd probably end up watching it in search of more of those moments.
Thanks for reviewing it,
Scott
