To a point. I have no intention of watching The Eternals or any of the streaming shows. I don't like being a slave to someone else's marketing scheme. There's something to be said for "one and done " movies like Free Guy or Nobody or Arrival.

Agreed that Marvel turned up the MCU money spigot a couple of notches too far, though external factors (pandemic) contributed. It's been much less consistent since Endgame. I've enjoyed some of the Disney+ series esp. WandaVision and Hawkeye but others not nearly as much (Moon Knight). Seems like basically the ones based on known characters, and there's probably a reason they're better known in the first place.

For me and my wife this one is "sitthroughable" on your rating scale Barry. Christian bale was solid and I enjoyed watching Natalie P. wield the hammer. Conceptually, there was too much ebb and flow to tonal focus which stalled the thematic impact when applied.

Greg, I do not feel enslaved but that’s the way it is these days. I have enjoyed many of the James Bond movies, I have enjoyed several of the Raiders of the lost ark movies, Star Trek TV and movies, and so on. One Jurassic Park was enough but I really enjoyed Terminator 2 and Aliens. Of course I also like many of the one and done movies.

Sure, but a Nolan Batman trilogy is a far cry from a 20 - 30 movie serial. I'm down for a Dune trilogy though. In my case I never bought or read any comic books - I have zero invested in any of the characters to begin with.

They made a Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2! If there's money to be made, they will make a sequel, regardless if it was any good the first time around.

One is fine - like Deadpool - if it's good. One every few years might be fine too. Free Guy 10 would lose me!
