Yep. Guess we are going to have to wait a few days to find out if LCD or LCOQ. My guess is LCD. The big questions will be DTM and contrast. Lumens was already stated on one at 2,700. That makes me think LCD.

Love having an outboard premium VP. Never have to worry about onboard DTM :)

Interested in what specs this have and price point.

Does Epson not usually participate in CEDIA? Just seems like odd timing that they'd have something new and exciting like that and not have made even a virtual splash with it at CEDIA.

But of course this is exciting news and looking forward to see how these compare to the JVCs.

Edit: I looked on the other forum and saw someone posted that Epson will announce new HT projectors on Sep 29-30.

It is odd timing. Epson said they would not attend Cedia long before everyone started to pull out, leading me to believe they didn't have anything new this year.

CEDIA has been moving from being a big home theater and home audio show to more along the lines of anything related to home automation and Internet-connected devices.

Less cool HT stuff; more connected gadgets to spy on you. ;)

I think Covid threw everything off this last 1 1/2 years.

Don't see anything yet from Epson USA newsroom, but What HiFi has a news release up. 3LCD, not reflective LCD, so obviously won't be state of the art black level & contrast, but looks like much more affordable pricing than JVC at least:

There is a question on whether Epson will bring these out in the US this year, due to supply shortages.

Most every product that uses a computer chip, there's a good chance the supply will be limited.

I know that my local AV Installer says he had problems getting AVRs for new installations and customer upgrades.

Saw Mike's reply on the other forum that Epson told him no new US models coming in 2021. Plus there are folks saying these are not 4K chips, but a 4x shift of a 1080p chip as opposed to 2x. Could still be worth a look with the lumens being quoted, and depending on cost. Implication I see is the LS12000 would be about 1/2 the price of the JVC RS2100.

I wish there were more reasonably priced projectors that used a laser light source.

Uh oh Craig... ;D

Seriously, I ranted a bit about that in the JVC new laser 4K announcement. I don't get why the price delta to add laser to LCOS is WAY higher than for DLP/LCD.

New AV tech always means $$$, at least the first few generations.

Do you want much higher native contrast and state of the art dynamic tone mapping for HDR? Do you want multiple lens memories and other advanced settings? Do you want native 4K resolution and 4096 x 2160 for use with a DCR lens and scope screen? It's not just laser you pay for with a JVC.
