Thanks Dylan. This player has a source direct setting, does it not? I think it also has a hidden feature that makes it compatible with all regions ( setup menu - 8765 on the remote should bring it up ).For the record, I found the streaming apps on my Panny 820 player to be seriously buggy compared to just using something dedicated to streaming like the Amazon Fire Stick 4K, so no loss there.
Thanks for the review Dylan. I'll stick with my 820 for now
The Panasonic players are simply a way better option for projector owners, except for those with the latest 4K JVCs. I think this player is best to pair with a Lumagen, madVR Envy, or with a JVC's built-in tonemapping. It would also be great for most HDR TVs as well. I did most of my testing on my LG B8 OLED.
I use the Panasonic with a JVC RS2000 projector and it works great. I have all the tone mapping in the Panasonic turned off though.
The one problem with the Panasonic players is that they will upscale to 4K whether you want them to or not ( without fiddling on a per title basis ), which if you own a Lumagen is less that ideal.
Good think I don't own a Lumagen
Yes only Sony allows source direct. id rather have a cheap Sony + lumagen though
You wouldn't be saying that if you saw it vs your solution.
I don't disagree, but the law of diminishing returns definitely comes into play. I ended up purchasing a Trinnov and I haven't won the lottery in order to afford everything I want
