Awesome setup,  Craig.  So you now have 4 subs near the four corners of the room.  This usually gives the best frequency response at the seats and can help with room modes.  The tough part is time aligning them all to reach the seats at the same time.  Mark Seaton is amazing at this.  Now all you need is some Crowson tactile transducers to levitate the seating.

It already feels like the seats and floor are levitating during " Hacksaw Ridge ", along with a gut punch from explosions !

I originally built my theater before Dolby Atmos was even a twinkle in Dolby's eye. Hence my surround speakers were mounted too high on the wall. I revised the surround speaker heights to enable Dolby Atmos audio with height speakers.
Dropping the surrounds 24" was a lot harder than it sounds - due to drywall repair. Took two evenings after work ! Plus another evening to replace my X7200 with a new X8500, and install two new height speakers ( oh attic, how I hate you ) !

I needed a clever solution to mount one surround speaker where a window is. This is one thing that kept me from doing this sooner. However, i got clever - and got some 1" square steel tube.

You would never know there was a window back there.

Considering the speaker wire dropped out of the attic / ceiling to the previous surround location at the top of the wall, there was an incredible amount of drywall removal and repair to drop these speakers 24" .  But, it's finished. Thank goodness !



Two new rear height speakers. I now have 9.4.4 - 13 speakers and 4 subwoofers. I tink I'm good for a while !

Thank you. I'm using Martin Logan Motion FX for the surrounds ( 2 side, 2 rear ), and Motion 4 for the height speakers
( 2 front, 2 rear ). Watched " Enders Game " on 4K Blu-ray to test the Dolby Atmos use of all 13 speakers last night. Definitely more 3 dimensional sound field ! It sounded good before, but it's better now !

I just had a guest say ( after watching " M. I. : Fallout ) my theater sounds better than it ever has - thanks to both the X8500 and adding 2 ceiling speakers ( and lowering my side / rear surrounds ). It's nice when guests can hear and see the improvements we do and make a mention of them.

I wish i had movie addict friends....im the only one i know that loves movies and audio/video other than my dad....but he lives in florida.

I would invite friends over for a movie night, they ask what is playing, I give them a movie name and their response is "Oh, I saw that already on my phone/tablet the other night." How disappointed I felt, seeing as they have no clue what that movie really looks like and feels like.
I do believe that the younger than 40 crowd has no time for this, while the older crowd enjoys the gathering for time to spend with friends and as a plus a good movie.

I send an email every week with my list of movies - new or old, or theme nights ( Goldfinger, with vodka martinis - usually Belvedere vodka, shaken, not stirred ) and ask people to RSVP. I just pick what I want to watch and throw it out there. Usually 2 - 3 movies a week. If my wife is gone for a week, I might watch 5 nights in a row. I have about 20 friends that like watching movies at my house - 6 regulars and 14 that come every so often.

Just had 4 friends over ( and my wife )  to watch " Rich Crazy Asians ". A really fun movie ! Looks and sounds great on 4K too!

Next week I already have " Black Klannsman " on Monday, guest's choice Wed., " Die Hard " on 4K Thursday, maybe " Isle of Dogs " Friday, and perhaps an encore performance of " Fallout " Tuesday.
