When we built our room I went to Lowes, and asked them to make a flat black paint... When my friend was painting the room with a sprayer it was pretty hard due to lighting, but after it dried it was not as light absorbing as i wanted. My solution was to get the stickon velvet that comes in a roll, and is used in telescopes. I used this for the first couple of feet on the ceiling and it worked out great IMO. I used Jo Annes triple velvet for my soffits, and framing around the screen wall.

do you get any sag?

Found my way here too. I layed out half my floor tiles yesterday and this morning, with no lamps on and shades closed I stepped on my dog! That's right, the little critter merged with the floor in an unexpected way. That tells me that the image, ones up and running again, really will make a litte difference as the black painted ceiling did. I need blacked out curtains too and know what to get and where.
That sounds great that you found a solution and are moving forward. How about posting a pic of the progress?

With the drop ceiling most likely not an option with stick on. I like the look of the ceiling painted so will give this a chance
to see how I progress making a determination after watching a bunch of movies.

No...what I did was stick the velvet to pegboard (not what I would do again though as it is too slippery of a surface, and doesn't stick well), and wrapped the edges around the panels, and then use sheetrock screws to hold them up. If I was to do it again I would find a thin wood that was not slippery to use as a panel for attaching the stick-on velvet.

One thing I have found is that when you have a black hole it is hard to take pictures that really depict it unless you have some photography skillz. I lucked out and a friend was over one day and took some pics for me (he is a professional photographer).

His room is not a black hole so it should be easy to take pics of the new floor he is installing.

6 hours down and 3 hours to go. The Rosco paint looks great on the walls and is less reflective than the dark purple fabric I had on the walls. Chased down more spots I missed on the ceiling and is starting to come together.  Looks like I will roll with this as my ceiling tiles  look like a million bucks cool effects and provides for a very immersive experience.  Looks like the money I save on velvet and making panels will go towards black furniture and some new seating. I revisited moving my seating closer and looks like 8ft viewing distance for the 110" screen will be the sweet spot.
There are minimal reflections and not worth it to reduce them anymore As I see it. A 2℅ reflective room overall down from 10℅ is a substantial improvement for 66.00 in paint and 10 hours in labor. Will continue to update as I progress thru the project. Paint still drying.

The image is so clean that lacks noise and pixels that the room sucks me further and further into the screen.

Room all done and the final conclusion is there will be no velvet
in my future. Turned out great and it gives me the look and immersion
I was looking for. It gives me the affect of a larger room and the reflection
is so minimal that any improvement would be a waste of time and money.
