I turned the center channel up 3db for this film (cause I had to drop the MV 7db cause of clipping baked into the mix) and it made the dialogue perfect

fyi “volume Catholic Church” is HYSTERICAL HAHAH

I think when I watch this with my wife next, who does not enjoy loud soundtracks, I'll need to raise the center and lower the subs and overall volume level even more. Watched it for the first time last night with friends that like it loud. Even though I had the center raised a bit so I could lower the overall sound level ( I'd been warned it's as hot as The Dark Knight Rises opening scenes - which nearly fried a PC12 Plus cylinder sub because I had it cranked too high once ) I still thought it was going to break the room at times. Crazy ass soundtrack !

Viewed it twice now.    Second time with subtitles as the first time was sensory overload.  Next time will be without again.  Figuring it out a bit at a time.

Looks and sounds fantastic.    I never feel vibration with my carpet covered concrete floor, but I do with this movie. Wow.

I've watched it 4 times now - great story. After the last viewing, my wife insisted we watch " Inception " again the next night. Fun to re-visit that film!

haha I did the exact same thing.  Inception might be in my top 5 favorite movies.  still the best I have seen in a commercial theater.

Finally watched this last night, and wish I'd revisited this thread beforehand as it was all on the money and I could really have benefitted from raising the center channel volume. Though some of the dialog was distorted enough that I'm not sure how much that would have mattered.

As I told the friend I watched it with going in, I knew this would need at least a 2nd viewing to understand. My buddy is really into thematic development and character growth and especially where the action enhances or illuminates that, but it was very hard to tell here just because there's so much brain power spent on trying to track and understand what's happening.

Couple of questions I had at the end. 1) I wonder why Nolan decided to not give Washington's character a "real" name as opposed to a role? I feel like that's an important point and clearly a decision made for a reason. 2) I need to review with an eye on who's moving which direction in time. I may be (probably am) wrong but it seemed at least a couple of times like people who were inverted ended up moving the same temporal direction as someone who wasn't, and having a conversation.

I actually just realized while writing this that it's the reason some of the dialog is impossible to understand - it's temporally inverted so it's backwards.

Watch it a second time and it starts to piece things together. There are also some good sites to read that have broken down the timeline making it easier to understand.
