Bad news good news.

Bad news my server computer caught on fire while away on vacation (forgot to shut it down)

Good news house didn’t burn down lol

Bad news can’t figure what’s wrong w that computer. Was working fine Sunday as I was assessing if I lost any drives (lost one 10TB) and now won’t boot up at all just shuts down after about 30 seconds. Then tries to restart itself. Ugh. Hoping it’s the PS

Yikes, that's scary.  I've never given any thought to shutting down my servers when going on vacation.

I did have a problem with a subwoofer once right after coming home from a vacation.  After plugging it back in and turning it on a small bit of smoke came out of the bottom port, so it never actually burst into flames.  That was it for the amp.

Hope you get it figured out, and I'll have to give thought to shutting mine down when leaving them unattended for a long period.

I turn my NAS off - the only server I have, after I'm finished watching a movie. I turn everything off - UPS power conditioners too.

It’s very frustrating right now trying I get it up and running. Power supply replacement comes today. Praying that’s the reason

The one I have is brand new. Happen to have a spare on hand. I ordered a new one. If it is in fact the power supply I will warranty it. (Not the one from
The fire that one is destroyed…wires are crispy lol)

Most frustrating part is it was working. (Post fire) and the just stopped booting up. So weird

Sorry to hear about the fire. I shut my computer and server off when I leave town for more than 48 hours. In fact, when I leave for more than a week, I even unplug things from the wall (projector and Trinnov for sure). California power is too sporadic with black and brown outs (brown outs are the worst on electronics).

Thanks. Yeah 99% it was from a major power surge from a terrible electrical storm we had.

Building a PC isn't hard these days. I've been building my own since 1991!

Yep was super simple!  Other than realizing I didn’t buy a cpu with onboard graphics (to set up bios) and had to borrow a hdmi video card lol

then a small snafu to get my NAS connected to the LAN properly. Was simple mistake of missing an important gateway address lol. But all good like it never happened (just have to replace the one HDD that didn’t make it. RIP)
