And I’m quite content with the rs600 lumagen combo. Word is native 4K next to e-shift is barely noticeable if at all. I’ll take top of the line blacks and the lense of the rs600 (for now hahah)

Whos word? Remember, I had an RS600. Native 4K definitely looks sharper and cleaner, with less picture noise. Period.

Many many professional reviewers who did it side by side.  Now I’m not saying there isnt a difference. But for now it’s not a must have upgrade.  Also not saying it’s not an upgrade I def want to make. Just not right now


I’d rather have 4K eshift and the contrast of the rs600 vs the native 4K of the rs1000 and much much lower contrast.

Ah, good to know I"m not the only one... I've been house hunting for a few months now, and always brought my laser tape measurer so I can take measurements of the basement. So many houses have support beams in just the wrong places for home theater use! I finally found a home that has a basement amenable for building an HT (with the bonus being that the family loves the rest of the house :-) ).

Regarding NAS - yeah, not for everyone (takes time for setting up and maintenance). I love the convenience of having one though. The movies aren't only easily accessible in the home theater, but they are accessible in many other places (bedroom, iPads, and even outside the home.). Remember though that even if the NAS uses RAID, it's important to have a second NAS to backup the first as insurance in case the first NAS has issues (maybe a disaster like a flood). Too much of a pain to have to re-rip hundreds of movies from the original media.

If you want to truly mitigate against disaster like fire or flood, offsite copies should be in the plan. Do you rotate drives to an offsite location in any way?

so they always say the last 5% is the hardest to finish.  they werent kidding.  I still havnt made the atmos speaker grills, and painted the door trim.  eh, ive been enjoying it too much and its not noticeable!

So crazy update around here

Another leak in the basement  turnout the barb on the hot water line going to the upstairs kistchen sink went bad and it was swinging water in the basement overnight. EXACTLY where my OLD theater was!  Thank god I didn’t rebuild in the same spot!  So just a PIA more than anything. Had to dry vac a lot of water. And cutout a piece of drywall. Fix the line and all is good again. PIA but major damage averted!

Also wise and daughter have Covid. Which leads me  to take care of my at risk son while they both quarantine. Fun start to the new year!

Just wanted to post to document it for future years to remember hahah

Now my son and I have it. Ran 5.5 miles yesterday. Today I feel TERRIBLE. Fully vaxed and boostered. Can’t imagine what it would be like if i wasn’t. .
