we get it.  you dont want a NAS.  there are PLENTY of people that do and love it.  including me

have fun sifting through your disc, loading and unloading the disc wait for it to boot, wait for th menu, wait for the warnings, wait for the trailers.  then realize you don't feel like watching the movie.  you get up stare at you storage rack rinse and repeat. I dont miss that in the least!

I never do that. But glad you are having fun with it.

I never have to watch trailers. I hit play on the disc and it goes direct to the movie. If I want, don't get out of the chair convenience, I can watch my movies on Vudu. A NAS is nice, but I do not want to rip movies. Did that already, years ago.

the NAS allows 1:1 remux.  
and some discs force the trailers and warnings, unless you have found some way around it

im really surprised as the close mindedness against the NAS on here.  isn't it a to each his own type of thing?

well that guy is certainly NOT me.  lol  I am as active as it gets.  so sitting down to watch somthing and not have to get up again is pure relaxation time

I only get up when the movie is over, to escort my guests out, and go to bed. We have different use cases here. I almost never watch more than one movie in a row. My wife gets up 3 times during a movie to pee. No NAS is going to help her.

It is not closed mindedness. I did an HTPC for many years. Granted things have improved, since then, but often times it was not trouble free, plus a lot of time was spent ripping movies. I have a hard enough time finding time to use my theater, I do not want to add more work to my current load. If you have the time to build a NAS, keep it updated and rip movies, it is a great solution. My brother (also engineer and computer Science major) loves his.

That’s all I was saying. Everyone was just downplaying it. Like it wasn’t a good solution. Despite me really loving it. So it seemed close minded. If it’s not for you that’s fine   I didn’t think it was for me till I had it in house. It’s worth every second on it for me. I enjoy tinkering w the theater and it was just plug and play for awhile. This gives me somthing to do in between movie sesh’s

just sold my Lumagen and upgraded to a brand new 4242.  made a profit on my old unit and added a warranty and updated capacitors.  excited to have the peace of mind with a new unit

Good luck with that. That's where my NAS money went - a native 4K projector. Cake first, then maybe frosting.

NAS was free thanks to jkasanic

And I’m quite content with the rs600 lumagen combo. Word is native 4K next to e-shift is barely noticeable if at all. I’ll take top of the line blacks and the lense of the rs600 (for now hahah)
