I’m
In the debate mode weather I should recess the surrounds and ceiling volt 6’s into the walls/ceiling as much as I can and make fabric panels to hide them. Also debating columns on the sides and rears.

Or just surface mount everything.
One thing about surface mounting - it's possible to move the side surround speakers if you should decide to move your seating closer to the screen. I've done that twice, in the march from 1080p DLP to eshift 4K to native 4K. If you are 100% certain your seats are where they will stay, then it won't matter.

Considering I don't want to ever hang sheetrock again, any price is a good price. Get a couple more bids !

Mounted the atmos boxes in the joists so they will be hidden. I’ll be making speaker grills for them. To hide them once the drywall is finished

I am using Volt-8's for atmos and Volt-10's for side and rear surrounds. I surface mounted. I particularly wanted to be able to aim the atmos speakers. So I built U brackets for them. Can rotate and tilt the speakers.

The good thing about the volts is the great wide dispersion they have. While i did have them angled in the old theater. I don’t think it was actually necessary. I’m looking forward to the wider space between the speakers. Old theater they were close together. Less than ideal

Got quite a bit done yesterday...

Finished the electrical wiring...ran front subwoofer speaker wire (ran out AGAIN...so more is coming tomorrow)..still need to run rear sub wire...Front R main, and back left Atmos cables...

I framed in the Electrial panel...so i can be covered with an easily removeable fabric panel to match the rest of the room....ANy recommendations what to use to attach it with?  (magnets? velcro?)

Stuffed the walls and soffits with insulation...and finally cut into the HVAC line to get a regiester to feed into the room from the rear soffit......also Marked off on the floor all the studs in the room...for when I hang speakers and the projector lol

left to do before saturday..

Wire for

rear sub
riser transducer
Front Main
Left back Atmos

finish insulation stuffing

hope im not forgetting anything.....Saturday is drywall getting hung

You local building codes may require it for fire.

I'd say yes. But you won't need to finish it for paint, so it will be much faster and easier !

Also less sound escaping to other areas, with it mudded and taped.

Drywall done! What would have taken me
At least 3-4 days. Done in about 4 hours. Well worth $400
