My brother-in-law has an account and we're going to watch the Mandalorian in my theater. We are going to try and cast it via Chromecast but we have the newest Firestick HD if that doesn't work.

I'll report back how it works.

It seems to be nearly universally acknowledged that there is a problem with The Mandalorian's HDR - darker scenes consistently appear too dark.  I have found this both on my Sony 900E series TV, and I actually just checked it out on my JVC NX7, with a Roku Premiere+ being the source.

I watched "6 Underground" using this same Projector and Source last night, on Netflix, and the picture quality was astounding.

Watching The Mandalorian was underwhelming - dark scenes were dark, and had no pop.

Vincent Teoh has a YouTube video on this subject, documenting that there are problems with the HDR encoding here.  If I remember right, there was a possibility that it was actually SDR, in an HDR container.  But I'm not certain about that being a correct recollection.

In any case, report back on what you see - I'm curious.

Maybe the cinematographer that did " Solo : A Star Wars Story " is doing this too.

I'm using the ROKU Ultra. My projector is the JVC Refence 2000 4K model. I am using the Marantz AV8805 top of the line AV receiver.

Ensure that the Roku is set to 4K output (go into the settings and double check). Do you get UHD with Netflix or Amazon? If so, you may want to uninstall the Disney+ app, unplug the Roku to force a reboot, then reinstall Disney+.

I watched the first three episodes of The Mandalorian tonight on Disney +.

We streamed it off the app, on an iPhone, to a Chromecast connected, to my Anthem AVM-60. Overall I was fairly impressed with the AV presentation. There were no audio dropouts or buffering. The video looked pretty good. Actually, it looked much better than I was expecting. While the audio wasn't as dynamic and engaging as the typical big-budget action film on Blu-ray, it was better than any broadcast network show and a good many titles that I have streamed on Amazon Prime. The Anthem said the audio was DD+.

I really enjoyed the story too but I'll not get into that just in case some of you haven't watched it yet.

I appreciate that advice. I doubt I will make it out to see The Rise of Skywalker in the theater. My closest theater is a bit of a drive and I'm vowing to stay out of Holiday traffic.

Maybe after the "new" wears off and all the kids start back to school.

We are going on Saturday at 12:20. We couldn't get into the "Best" theater at the multiplex (sold out for a solid week unless we wanted to sit in the first row), so we had to settle for the next theater down. Hopefully the movie is better than "The Last Jedi," which made me wish that Jar Jar was back on the screen.

I binged "The Mandalorian" and I must say, I liked it very much.

I am looking forward to the second season..
