New 2017 JVC Models "Refresh" (RS420/520/620; X570/770/970)

Watched PASSENGERS in 4K HDR yesterday. Stunning image.

HDR using an Arve tool created HDR curve is just excellent on these projectors, then again so is the default HDR gamma. Its only a mild improvement going to the Arve tool on these units, but worth it for those last few steps of highlight control for 4000 nit titles.

Definitely a must buy UHD disc, a good film too!

For anyone here...In just starting up this bad boy (X770RB/7500/RS520) sometime next week/weekend, what are some of the first things to get me started with optimal PQ?  Any pointers or where to point me to?  Thanks so much to any and all that can help!  By the way, pairing with a Denon X4300H and Oppo 203.

Just got mine, and it's not going in until sometime next week when the room is revealed!  What's in the firmware?

A couple of bug fixes I believe. Always good to stay current.

And I've heard that JVC's firmware update process is a not so convenient process....USB drive, correct?

I am expecting the new Lumagen software to drop by this weekend that will allow for HDR Intensity Mapping. Should be interesting with how it will work with the 520.

I'm interested to hear a full report on this. It's taken a while, but HDR finally seems to be getting sorted out for projectors.

The update process can be a pain. That is why we offer to do it for our customers, before sending out the projectors.

I tried their new instructions with good results but I know others who have done similar attempts with no luck. Hopefully most have success!

Plus your laptop.

thanks for cable info. I have the 570 (420) still has the previous firmware version. don't have a pc laptop ( could borrow one) but since this is my first projector and have never updated one- a bit nervous-is there a risk of bricking it?
