JVC hex codes. See attached.
Thanks Mike! I just tested this and these codes work great. I have another request please... Can you also ask if they have any discrete IR commands for Masking Off/Custom 1/Custom 2?These masking controls go hand-in-hand with the Lens Memories and are really needed to automate things. For instance, with my 2.37AR screen I like to zoom out more than normal on 16:9 material. This gives me about a 15% larger image while not cropping off too much of the picture - and is particularly useful for football where all of the action is still framed nicely. The downside is that this puts light spill above and below the screen. Which is where the masking controls come in nicely. So when I go to my over-zoomed 16:9 view I need that masking on, which is stored in Custom 1. But when I switch to my regular 16:9 or 2.37 zoom (for a 2.40 movie) I need to turn the masking off. The masking has no buttons on the remote and apparently no IR codes listed in the manuals. So while its great to be able to recall more than 2 lens memories using the discrete IR codes, it still means I have to hunt and peck through the menus to adjust the masking. Can you check with JVC and see if there are unlisted codes that will do this? If not, perhaps they can add it?Thanks!
I am pretty sure that JVC does not have codes for the masking. At least last time I checked, they did not. I will ask if anything has changed. Since the new RS4500 has the ability to store masking position in a memory, maybe this has been added. I will ask about that also.
So, did anyone watch the new ST UHD BD on the RS-500/600? How's the PQ?
In general I watch all of my few 4K UHD Blu Rays I have so far without HDR, but with the wide color gamut. Thank you HD Fury Integral ! HDR raises black levels too much for my tastes. I find the wider color gamut, increased resolution and cleaner looking picture ( much less video noise on the 4K movies i have ) to be enough of an upgrade. HDR with it's raising of black levels is to me ( on my RS600 ) a downgrade. YMMV.

Yup, they work here too, thanks Mike! And I have the same question about masking.FWIW, there are codes for masking in the IP/RS232 interface spec, it would be sweet if they had some IR codes for it.
Watched it twice on Tuesday. Movie was way under-exposed. So far, there have been 3 movies that were really under-exposed: ST Beyond, Superman vs. Batman and Jupiter Ascending. The first 2 are easy to see what's going on ... still can't figure out Jupiter Ascending. Jupiter Ascending has a lot of dark landscape shots where its nearly impossible to see any dark image detail ... must look great on a 12bit commercial grade monitor. We need multiple Gamma D's/EOTFs to correct under-exposed movies.
Damn, I was afraid of that. I'll see how it looks in BT2020 SDR. Yeah, BvS I thought was way under-exposed.
Thanks to all for explaining this. I have to decide with new oppo 203 being released shortly whether to hold out with my sony vw95, purchase the RS600 now, or wait until JVC releases , hopefully a 4K RS600 successor next fall. Would roughly a year's time be worth the difference in purchase price and sale price of the RS600, especially if a 4K version is released. Not really questions but just some decision points I'm wrestling with. The Z1, as great as it likely to be is just too far out of budget.
I think that is wishful thinking. They aren't going to bring out a 4K projector this year at $35K, and then undercut it next year at $10K. At least that doesn't make any sense to me from a marketing perspective. Maybe in 2 years. But my crystal ball is a bit cloudy.
I would suspect that a good part of the Z1 cost is the laser and top of the line lens. I don't think that the 4K chip in a lamp based unit with respectable quality lens would exceed 20K, and would compete directly with the Sony vw665. I really can't believe that JVC thinks that it is competing in the true 4K pj market with a $35k entry and no other 4K pj for 2 or more years resting on the eshift tech. But then again, fortunately I don't have to put bread on the table by developing new projectors.
