I suggest checking out the Yamaha P2500s amps for stereo use, as the fans never even came on in my old setup, and we even pushed them occasionally. My Crest Audio amp fans are on all the time. Yamaha also has a pro amp that is 8 channel I believe, but I would check to see if the fans are on all the time as their 4 channel version (that I have) is on all the time.

my equipment is all outside the room so fans are not a problem...I use 2 inukes for the subs and the fans are inaudible from inside the room

Pro amps will never be a part of My amp collection, mainly as i dont find them to have other qualities than power, and i value sound quality far more than power.

I used to think that too, but I remember when the Crown Pro amps made quite a stir years ago in the Audiophile realm, and they were doing very well among the high end amps. Personally i think that if you are using room tune software it levels the playing field pretty well to the point where most of the amps sound very close after being tuned in a well setup room...just my opinion though.

To me room correction and that sort of source manipulation is just as bad to sound as CMS/ image manipulation is to the image, there is nothing you can do with software that will bring back whats lost, im much more into adapting the room and finding the combination of devices that has a natural response that is as natural transparent and realistic as possible, so just as ill never be pleased with a PWM or class D amp ill never ever want room correction in the mix, that dont mean that there is not a lot of hi end amps and gear that also dont deliver anything that i would want..

amps do one thing....amplify sound (if they are working properly) If you think an amp sounds different than another amp...you either have psychological bias..or they werent setup the same...or they were designed to sound different....pro amps do not sound any worse than "audiophile amps"

My setup is in a completely tuned room with bass traps, and first reflection points all treated. My setup sounds pretty good without room tune software, but after tuning with Dirac (IMO) it sounds much better.

We all have our own decisions on what is acceptable in getting to our desired finish line...yours is more of a purist (been there), where mine is to get the end result to sound the best I can without breaking my budget.

I never heard 2 different amp models or brands that soundet the same, so in my opinion if you dont hear the difference, its related to the person listening, or the rest of the system lacking resolution, dont help anything to have the best amp if the source, preamp or speakers is not up to the task of showing off the difference, or if the room acustic mask it.

And then we each have our own truth to this subject, as we have different references, claiming there is no difference dont take much, and im sure your right in your statement with the point of reference you have.

However you cant use that to tell others that there is no difference, as you will have to consider that you still miss to experience it, or have met the conditions where it was possible to make out the differences.

It dont have to cost a lot to get good sound, its often a matter of finding the right component, wich is mostly a lucky strike from the manufactures.
Some of the most expensive hifi gear is often what sounds the most different/ horrible colored in my world, a good example is Gryphon whos locatet 10 miles from me. I never experienced a Gryphon product i would want to own for the sound quality.. The look is another matter. I also find it hard to find anything produced after year 2000 that i agree with, its in general gone more and more specs, power consumption into it than sound quality.. Totaly same direction as image gear, more and more gimick and manipulation to reach the end result, wich is very dependant of processors and software.
