Nobody's Fool (1994)

 They don’t make movie like this anymore.  I wish they did.  I miss them.
 
From 1970 to 2000 or so, I went to the movies 30-40 times a year.  Mostly on Tuesdays with the same friends.
 
In 1994, Nobody’s Fool, was considered a “Big” film because it had big stars, not because it had great special effects.  It starred Paul Newman, Jessica Tandy, Melanie Griffith, and a newcomer Philip Seymour Hoffman. Bruce Willis had an important but uncredited role.
 
 
Sully is a cantankerous older, divorced man living in cold upstate New York. Everyone there is either eccentric or just plain colorful. Sully makes some money by doing construction work for Bruce Willis. Willis cheats him out of money, yet the still seem to be friends or friendly. Melanie Griffith, Willis’ wife, seems to have a thing for Sully and that plays out. A main theme is Sully trying to reconcile with his son, who is now a father. They hadn’t seen each other in years.
There is much more to the story which is compelling, serious and funny. And always captivating. I just sat back and enjoyed. Newman was fantastic as was Willis and Griffith.
 
The 4K video was very good and there was kind of a brownish tint, common in movie from that time.  The stereo audio was good, but the  DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 was even better.
 
This is movie I can see once a year.
