Saw Deadpool & Wolverine on Saturday night in IMAX. Summary: This was full of self indulgent humor, fan service, over the top gratuitous violence that's literally up the wazoo... and it was EPIC FUN. See it on the biggest screen you can.I'm not really conversant with all the minutiae of Deadpool or Wolverine history (and apparently many versions referenced), or even just recalling every single bit of the current sprawling MCU movie & TV material. If you nerd out on that stuff, apparently this movie will inspire you to orgasmic heights (with your favorite sock, as one of the many 4th wall lines so aptly advises) but it's not necessary to have a great time. There are cameos and easter eggs galore, crossing studio lines in ways only possible after Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Beyond new opportunities to mock the very entities that made it possible, it doesn't really break new ground but obviously that's not the point. Deadpool is who he & Ryan Reynolds are at this point. It's very well executed so if you like that, you'll enjoy this.
Oh - one thing I did NOT like and that's putting it nicely. Not about the movie itself fortunately, but... 40 freaking minutes of commercials and previews. FORTY! I was aghast at the previous personal record of 25 minutes and this smashed way thru that. That's really hostile to customers IMO.
Extra time to get more popcorn?
