That should be fast enough, if it does not drop down a lot at times. Mine varies from 26 to 30.

Yeah, mine varies about that as well.  I test on speedtest.net, it's usually 28-29.

I'm paying $66.95 a month from Concast!  I only have OTA and Netflix though.  They really sock it to you if you don't have the rest of their services  .  I'd like it if internet was half the price for my speed.  It started at $35 but, that was only 6 months or a year for that promo.

I'm on 75Mbps with Comcast and stream 4K/HDR from Netflix/Amazon and play NVidia games with no issues at all.

I recently called to renegotiate my bill and services with Time Warner Cable, and was able to get 200 down and 20 up, and saved a little bit over what they were charging me.  I have it hard-wired to my home theater gear, so that shouldn't be a limiting factor for 4k/hdr speeds.  I've used it with my new Roku Premiere+ and I haven't encountered any buffering.

I called Time Warner to complain about my 20 Mbps internet speed and they told me to upgrade my old router. I didn't believe this, so I ran a test by connecting our computer directly to our modem and got 70Mbps!  Well, I upgraded my router and I now get 70 Mbps download, 5 Mbps upload.

How old was your previous router?  What are you using now?

i did the speed test wireless on my laptop, so maybe a direct connection to the modem would be faster. But, the modem is a long way from our home theater, so that would be a problem anyway.

I'm a hard disc media guy.

My old router was easily 7-10 years old. I'm using a Linksys AC5400 now.

I am getting 230-260Mbps download via Lan, and did have the same on WIFI, until my Netgear Router crapped out.  Hopefully I can get back up to 260Mbps on WIFI again...currently I am at 130Mbps on WIFI.

I had the same problem with my old router which had 20 Mbps maximum throughput.  Now that I know better, I will not make that mistake again.

To check your routers maximum throughput, which limits your fastest speed, check the reviews at WWW.smallnetbuilder.com because they test all kinds of routers and measure everything.
