Once Upon a Studio: A FULL SPOILER 😊Review
 
Once Upon a Studio is a 14-minute short on the Disney+ streaming service, that once played over the air. The picture is great and so is gthe sound, which is mostly music.  I loved this.
 
This is a delightful and nostalgic 14-minute cartoon that looks back at the past 100 years of Disney animation.
 
The plot is that when n all the real people leave the Roy Disney Animation studio, Led by Mickey and aided by Tinkerbell, all of Disney’s animated characters, from the past 100 years want to get together to have a picture taken.  Then using ALL the animation methods, from Pixar to hand drawn, all of Disney’s creations, from Mickey to Snow White to Bambi to Dumbo, to the Little Mermaid, to the current Wish, all come together.
 
The animators use the actual people who performed these voices in short takes. Of course, for those who are no longer with us, recordings were used.
 
And the music used themes from all their movies. Note when Mickey goes to Walt Disney’s portrait they play “Feed the Birds” from Mary Poppins, his favorite song.
 
My favorite part, which will be missed by many, is when Mickey is on a line, a character runs past him and Mickey says, “After you.”  That character was Disney’s first, Oswald the rabbit, which was, until recently, still owned by Universal. Mickey was indeed, “after him.”
 
And when they all together and sing, “When you wish upon a star” and it got to Jiminy Cricket, a tear came to my eyes.  This was a picture of my childhood, what I watched and sang. It just needed Annette and the Mouseketeers.
