Marvels: A Non spoiler review

Three Marvels…No waiting!

Marvels is a “B”  sci-fi action movie, if you like the Flash Gordon serials, you will like this.  It’s not a totally bad movie, but not really up to snuff. Wait until streaming.

I was a fan of the Marvel Age of Comics, 1961-1976.  Marvel created hundreds of characters and presented original stories.  In 1968, Marvel was bought over by a company who were less interested in comics and more in merchandizing. As a result, the original creators left and by 1977 there was very little originality left.  Characters and stories were endlessly redone.  Younger readers, were often impressed because they had not read the original stories.

The movies seem to have a similar lifespan as the comics.  I enjoyed MOST of the movies from Iron Man to Avengers Endgame, finding them original and fun to watch.  But now they have become formula.  I’ve seen the structure of these movies over and over again. Here, copying themselves, they are setting up “The Young Avengers.”   Yes, I liked Spider-Man No Way Home and Shang Chi, but I could have passed on Eternals, Dr. Strange II, Ant-Man III, Thor IV, Black Panther II and most of the streaming shows.

A goal of this movie was to combine the movie universe with the streaming one, by adding Ms Marvel and another to the mix.  The movie has the three teaming to save a planet.  I am no longer impressed by movies that ae mostly special effects. It’s certainly not terrible, but sitthroughable. MY favorite part was with Barbra Streisand. Below are cast members!  And these movies do NOT have a clear ending.  Stay tuned for a mid-credit scene.

I wanted to add something about my review.

In gteh beginning, my friends and I, really enjoyed how each Marvel movie was different.  Iron Man and Captain America had wars in them, but the movies were quigte differnt; Ant Man was a humorous heist movie; Dr Strange had a very differnt look.

Now everything seems the same. As seperate entities the movie may appear better, but when you see one after another (there are twoo many of them) they now seem the same.  And there  is no pure ending, gthe clsoing crfedits now always seems to show that there is more to that story.
