Jay Ward and Bill Scott Predict the Current Actors Strike - in 1963

I happened to come across a TV show called Fractured Flickers this morning.  It aired 60 years ago, hosted by instantly recognizable host Han Conried, it featured clips of old silent movies edited into absurd news stories.

This particular episode had a segment with Bob Newhart, and is oddly prescient for the current state of Hollywood and the actors' union:

While this was handled humorously 60 years ago, technology has made the topic surprisingly relevant today.

I'm sure I watched Fractured Flickers as a kid growing up in Illinois, but I don't remember anything about it - including this skit!

This show aired before my time, but I've always loved the work of Ward and Scott, and loved how Rocky and Bullwinkle had content that appealed to young and old alike.  Really clever writing, something that we could use more of these days.

And Hans Conried made an excellent host, it was good to see him get some screentime, instead of just voicework.

That said, the clip segments didn't really work for me, but it was fun to see a young Bob Newhart.
