Cool pic but damn this is 3 hours long. Didn't realize that. Seems like 3 hours is the new 2 hours for movies.

Looking forward to this movie. Just rewatched Interstellar a couple of nights ago. Love Nolan's films!

from darkhorizons,

Quote
"Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” is opening everywhere on Friday July 21st and will be available in more formats than you can shake a stick at.Nolan shot the entire movie using IMAX 65mm format film camera with the movie set to be released on IMAX 70mm, regular 70mm, IMAX digital, 35mm, Dolby Cinema and more. Of those, there’s no question – the best format to see the film in is IMAX 70mm which plays at only a few locations around the globe."

Damn. I'm seeing it in a local (Raleigh NC area) theater that bills one screen as an "IMAX" but clearly isn't a true one. Closest one of those is over 6 hours from me.

Those posters are hilarious. I'll got and see Oppenheimer, but not Barbie. I'll wait for home video for that one.

Ok so what's the deal with the Oppenheimer & Barbie viewings? A friend was just telling me about it last night, that this is a "thing". Is is anything to do with Emily Blunt appearing in both? (Just saw that she announced taking a break from acting - might be convenient timing with the strike but with 2 kids, still understandable.)

It's called Barbenheimer...there's a damn story in the Wall Street Journal about it!

What marketing genius put these two things together? They obviously didn't work at Budd Light ;)

The Wikipedia entry makes it seem pretty organic and more of a social media phenomenon than an intentional marketing ploy.

They'll need every extra $ this produces with a strike doubleheader that's about to be a thing.

Yep...I remember the last strike and dearth of content it created. Maybe this one will allow everyone to get caught up on shows/movies that they haven't had time to watch. I know I have a list I plan on getting to.
