Why haven't more screen makers gone to split frame designs?

Why haven't more screen makers gone to split frame designs? It seems the added cost of having split frame pieces on the longest dimension would be far less than the cost of the added shipping a box with the full frame pieces at todays shipping rates.
I know some of the cheaper screen manufactuerers do this like Silver Ticket as who wants to pay more than the cost of the screen to have it shipped? Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like joining the two split long pieces can be made just as strong as a singular piece if designed correctly.
It seems like a way to keep the rising costs of shipping a bit more reasonable. I'd like your thoughts.

Maybe it's more of an aesthetic reason. It might be challenging to have the two long pieces of the frame fit properly and have a seamless look.

Just a guess.

I have always hated that some lightweight items ship at their "dimensional weight" as it usually means it's going to cost more.

Perhaps but if its covered in black velvet I doubt you would see the seam between the two pieces similar to how you don't see the seam between the corner pieces.

Split screen frames certainly work. Even some fairly expensive screens use this concept. The Screen Excellence power masking scope screen is sectional. Way it is done is very strong. Two "C" sections with a straight top and bottom bar connecting together.

You don't see the seam, when in use. I can walk up to the screen and see the seam on my Screen Excellence power masking frame, but only when room is well lit and I am at the screen. It looks no different than seeing a corner joint on a one piece top and bottom  frame. You see that at the screen in well lit room, but not when in actual use.

That's definitely a new twist on the sectional frame concept. I'm guessing that's done to work better with the power masking. Is that the https://restechtoday.com/seymour-screen-excellence-now-shipping-retro-masking-system/ or another built in screen masking system? Is AVS a dealer for Screen Excellence?
